Hidden Gems of Rome - Walking Tour

If you have already been in Rome, or if you like going off the beaten path, follow me in the discovery of the untouched Rome. Being an archaeologist, I can show you how the history of Rome can be found everywhere, even outside a museum. In every street or plaza, we can find a gem, a Roman ruin hidden in plain sight or a building connected to a mysterious legend. In this walking tour we'll start with the area around the Tiber River, the Island, where in 291 b. C. the Romans built a Temple for the God of Medicine, Asclepius, asking for protection from an epidemic disease. Then we'll visit of the most genuine area of Rome, the Jewish District where you'll learn about the local Jewish community and its hard life during centuries. We can see several ruins in the area, including the Theather of Marcellus or the Temple of Hercules. We'll end on the Aventine Hill, admiring the view of Rome from the panoramic terrace of the Gardens of the Oranges.
