I decided to offer this tour to give my guests the opportunity to better appreciate the Christian face of Rome visiting two of the Major Papal Basilicas: St. John in Lateran and St Mary Major. The tour starts visiting St Mary Major's Basilica with its beautiful XIII century mosaics and one of the holiest icon of the Virgin Mary. The tour ends visiting St. John in Lateran Complex, the cathedral church, official ecclesiastical seat of the Bishop of Rome, the Baptistery, with its beautiful decorations and the Scala Sancta (Holy Stairs) and Sancta Sanctorum, the early original private chapel of the Popes. Even if you are not Christian, I'm sure you will love the masterpieces and stories behind this beautiful Papal Basilicas.
Carlo is the best tour guide. We have booked him twice now and he is outstanding. This year Carlo guided our group on a tour of 3 Papal Basilicas (St Peter’s, St Mary Major and St John Lateran) as well as the Vatican (Scavi tour). He is extremely knowledgeable and his enthusiasm and passion for the history of Rome are contagious. We highly recommend Carlo and will book him again next time we visit Rome.
Carlo was fabulous. He has a wonderful personality with great energy and enthusiasm. I can't imagine Rome with out him. Carlo was very organized and efficient. He was not going to rest until we saw everything. The tour was so well paced that we never got overwhelmed. He recommended fabulous restaurants and places to enjoy local treats. I use private guides every time I travel. Carlo is the best guide I've ever had and I have had many good ones but he is incredible. Carlo, thanks for the best holiday ever.
This tour was amazing. Carlo had the van ready, and our family of 5 visited all the sites listed. He was knowledgeable about all the basilicas and items inside. He was also respectful of our wishes to pray and go to confession during the tour. He was the perfect guide for the basilicas. Our only regret is that we didn't have him with us the day before at the Vatican. Next time we visit Rome, we will be sure to book him! I highly recommend him as a tour guide for all ages.
The best guide EVER! His empathy for 5 seniors was perfect. We learned so much due to Carlos information presented in a coherent flow .He knew how to get ease of access and was sensitive to our needs to be less strenuous.He tells the stories of Ancient Rome and the Roman Empire so well you can visualize being there. We found him to be the professor we always wished we had. The day was perfect.
