Welcome to the Uffizi Gallery, one of the world's greatest collections of Renaissance art — and one of the places where Florence's extraordinary history comes to life. During this private tour, I will take you through the highlights of the Uffizi while helping you understand the stories, people and ideas behind the masterpieces. We will admire works by some of the greatest artists of the Italian Renaissance, including Botticelli, Leonardo da Vinci, Michelangelo and Raphael, while discovering how Florence became the cradle of the Renaissance. As a Florentine and a licensed local guide, I love bringing the paintings to life by telling you the stories behind them: the powerful Medici family, the artists who competed with one another, the patrons who commissioned these masterpieces and the fascinating details hidden in the paintings. You will learn how to look at a Renaissance painting, recognize its symbols and understand why these works were so revolutionary for their time.
Eleonora really made the Uffizi Gallery come alive with her knowledge and enthusiasm. Our group was tired from a day of sightseeing, but she had our attention as she described various works of art and told stories. Our granddaughters (age 12 and 14) totally enjoyed the adventure too.
Eleonora was informative and provided a very unique look into the past and how the art reflected the period the artists lived in. She was punctual, answered our questions and was very well versed in her knowledge of art.
