Hello! My name is Armando, I am an expert of Italian art, history, archeology and culture, and I have been working as an official tour guide for over twenty-five years. I am originally from Rome, I moved to Vinci, Tuscany a few years ago - birth place of the famous Leonardo da Vinci, 25 miles West of Florence -, and I am specialized in private tours of Florence, Siena, Pisa, Lucca, Vinci and all of Tuscany. I provide my guests a great summary of some twenty centuries of history most cities boasts, telling them about art and archaeology, past and present, local culture and every day life, and how all is inextricably combined. I am not going to give you a lecture - unless you want to - I will be informative but I won't overdo with too many dates and names, I will make your visit fun with anecdotes and legends: I know you are here on holiday and your holiday is meant to be enjoyable and fun! Whether it is your first visit, second or third time in Florence and Tuscany, I will be happy to create a customized itinerary based upon your interests to make you experience a unique, relaxing vacation. Ciao! No restrictions at all!

Overview of your Florence tour

We'll start with a historical presentation of the city from the foundation of Florentia as a Roman colony, up to its growth in the Middle Ages and the Renaissance as one of the most important capitals in Europe. I'll tell you about the many men and women who were protagonists of the greatness of Florence, such as the Medici for politics and economics, Michelangelo for art, Dante for literature, Galileo for the sciences. . . just to name a few among the most universally known. We'll visit the religious and political centers of Florence, the most important museums of the city, the Accademia and the Uffizi, where I'll tell you about artists who led the evolution of the Western art. I am not going to give you a lecture -unless you want to- I'll be informative but I won't overdo with too many dates and names; I'll make your visit fun with anecdotes and legends and you'll have time to enjoy a coffee or an ice cream: I know you are here on holiday and your holiday is meant to be enjoyable and fun!

This was our second tour with Armando in Florence. Our first tour focused on the main sights of the city. This day was focused on the galleries and main art exhibits. It was a wonderful tour. Armando was very knowledgeable about the various artists and their backgrounds. The tour was extremely informative for all of us. He is very professional and personable. He is very easy to be with and he is very cordial to all. It was a pleasurable experience.

We thoroughly enjoyed our Half Day Florence Tour with Armando. He immediately made us feel very welcome and comfortable in his company. His depth of knowledge of Florentine history and his expertise in art and architecture was particularly fascinating as he brought the priceless treasures of the Uffize and Accademia to life from Roman roots to the high Renaissance. I absolutely recommend this tour to anyone.

Armando was professional and knowledgeable. He did a tremendous job educating our small group on the history of Florence while highlighting certain artists and their work. He arrived on time to our morning meeting place. He covered a great amount of material in a detailed manner. He willingly answered our questions. Highly recommend.

Armando is a wealth of knowledge of Florence and every aspect of it. From history, to art and architecture, to politics. We covered a lot of information in a short period of time, focusing on the highlights. It was good that we ended in the Uffizi Gallery so that we could go back and take our time going back through to see and enjoy more. Armando was good with the kids (11, 14, 17, 19) but it was a lot of info for them. We had surprise costs for booking tickets ahead of time, in addition to ticket costs.

Your Florence tour itinerary

I'll meet you at your hotel/accommodation in Florence, or in Piazza Duomo, or in another agreed spot in Florence. - Duomo (outside; we'll talk about the famous Brunelleschi's Dome) - Giotto Bell Tower (outside; one of the most beautiful samples of Gothic architecture in Italy) - Baptistery (outside; with its famous bronze doors) - Academy Gallery (inside; to see the David and other famous statues by Michelangelo) - Uffizi Gallery (inside; paintings by Giotto, Masaccio, Botticelli, Leonardo, Michelangelo, Raffaello) - Piazza Signoria (with its open air collection of famous statues, Loggia dei Lanzi and Palazzo Vecchio) - Ponte Vecchio (Old Bridge over the Arno River) With me as your guide it will be easier for you to listen and follow the tour despite the everyday crowd, and I'll be happy to accommodate your requests by going faster through sites that don't interest you or stopping longer to see what's more relevant to you.
