Come stroll along the cobblestone streets of Florence with me, so you learn how the city became known around the world for its artisanal creations. Being educated on the history and inspiration behind local products and its creation process has been a passion of mine. I love to discover the humble beginnings of internationally known luxury products, where independent artisans get their inspiration from, as well as the techniques they use for their creations. Each one has its own individual story. Let me take you to experience some of the special places that I have discovered learning about this, including churches, artisan laboratories, and italian cantinas, where we will not only appreciate the beautiful quality of local products but also get a glimpse of the backstory behind them. The following itinerary could be customized upon request:
·We will meet in the city centre, near Santa Maria Novella, where we'll start your adventure at the oldest-running pharmacy in the world. Here you'll get a glimpse at the small garden where friars created their first elixirs and learn about how it has evolved through 8 centuries to become known for its coveted luxury perfumes and scents. ·Next we'll head just around the corner to a local artisan shop to experience the historical technique of paper marbling, a technique that has been practised since the 16th century. ·Our next stop will be close to the local market at a family-owned wine shop to have a glass of a local Tuscan wine that started its production in 1384. Here you'll rub elbows with locals as we get a taste of this historical wine region! ·After two or two and a half hours worth of tour, we'll end in the heart of the city just a 5-10 mins walk from the Duomo & Ponte Vecchio so you'd be able to continue discovering this magical city or I'd be happy to point you in the direction of your hotel!
