Hello, my name is Massimo! I was born in Lecco, on the Eastern flank of Lake Como. I have been taking guests on tours on Lake Como since 2019. My father used to work for IBM, and we lived in California and in Maryland. I was also an exchange student in Vermont. I worked for Internet startups for a while, but it was not the right job for a free spirit and an outdoors enthusiast. In the season, I take guests on tour on the Lake; in the Winter, I walk or hike when possible and marvel at the Lake from above. I live in Milan. We can meet in the city and go to Lake Como together, meeting at the train station or taking a black car. While the Lake can get busy, it's a real treat and I will always look for real and high-quality local restaurants. Overview of your Como tour
Como is a city of 100, 000 people, with a very walkable urban core. The city is famous for silk and shopping opportunities abound. We will take a beautiful private boat up to Villa del Balbianello, possibly the most beautiful of the Lake's villas, where a Star Wars movie and a James Bond movie were filmed. After the boat tour, we will walk around Como, see the Broletto, the old City Hall, the Duomo, surprisingly one of the largest churches in Italy, the Medieval heart of the city and the old walls that defended Como from their enemies, the Milanese. Lake Como is dear to me for many reasons: I was born on it, I hike in the mountains above it in the off-season and it was in the heart of my beloved grandmother.
Your Como tour itinerary
We will meet at 9:30 AM at your hotel in Como. We will walk to the pier, meet the captain and board the boat, heading North to Villa del Balbianello while stopping to take pictures of the gorgeous villas along the way. Once back in Como, we will walk around the Medieval town and I will tell you some stories about the city's epic battles against Milan. Notes: 1- private boats are in high demand and fill up quickly. Please ask me if I can find a boat before booking. 2- if you are not staying in Como, please let me know and I will try to customise the tour for you. 3- if you would like to visit the botanical gardens of the villa, please remember that we will need to add 1 hour to the tour and to the time we rent the boat and buy tickets for the villa well in advance. Please not that the villa is closed on Monday and on Wednesday. Please let me know and I will send you a customised offer.
