Ciao! Welcome to Emilia Romagna: land of beauty, culture, art, motors, wine and good food! I'm Margherita, a licensed tour guide, and I have always loved to travel discovering different cultures and visiting different cities, thanks to my parents who brought my young sister and me all over Europe. In 2009 I took a degree in Foreign Languages and Cultures at Bologna University (one of the most ancient in the World, dated 1088!), and in 2016 I decided to become a licensed tour guide, because I was fascinated by this job. Even though I was a little bit shy but after my first tour, I understood I have found what perfectly suit to me! For me, being a tour guide means discover my city through travelers' eyes, falling in love with Bologna every day a bit more, and meeting people from all over the world is a real richness and a way to discover different cultures. I love everything about being a tour guide in Bologna : the old town streets, the monuments, the Medieval towers, the Churches, the Museums, the food scents coming out from food shops or restaurants, the colors of fruits and vegetables of the market stalls. . . and all other beautiful things that a Medieval Italian city can offer! I must confess that I don't only love Bologna City but also Emilia - Romagna Region : is a place full of Culture, History, Art and food traditions. Here, there are Ravenna wonderful Byzantin mosaics, recognized by Unesco as World Heritage; here is the land where the composer Giuseppe Verdi, the singer Pavarotti and the filmmaker Federico Fellini born;Lamborghini, Ferrari and Maserati Factories are based here. . and don't forget the food! Bolognese Sauce, Traditional Balsamic Vinegar of Modena, Parmigiano Reggiano cheese, Parma ham, Tortellini pasta and many other specialties famous all over the World hailing from here! PS. I will gladly customize my tours, if needed. License as Tour Guide since 2016 License as Tour Leader since 2019 Degree in Foreigner Languages and Cultures since 2009 As a local qualified guide, following Italian rules, I have access to all landmarks.

Bologna is known as "la Grassa - the fat" for its world-famous culinary tradition, or "la rossa- the red" for the colors of its medieval terracotta buildings, and "la dotta - the learned" for its deep cultural roots. Join me in this tour to discover the cultured side of Bologna. We meet in Piazza Galvani, at the statue of this Bologna famous scientist representing him during the experiment that led to the discovery of bioelectricity. Then, we enter the Archiginnasio, the Renaissance seat of the University of Bologna, to visit the Anatomical Theatre, once used for scientific dissections. We continue entering the Santa Maria della Vita Oratory, that hosts the Compianto sul Cristo Morto: these Renaissance terracotta sculptures are famous for their "screaming" emotion; an hidden masterpiece that leaves you breathless. Finally, we visit the Oratory of Santa Cecilia, a hidden gem in the University area heart, known as the "Sistine Chapel of Bologna" for its beautiful renaissance frescoes.
