My name is Helga, and I was born and raised in Iceland. I'm a friendly, nature loving person and I live in Akureyri, the biggest town on the north coast. I have three grown up children and one grandchild. When the kids were young, we travelled a lot together in Iceland, camping, hiking, and fishing, and we still do, even though they are grown up with their own families. It is such a privilege being so close to untouched nature. I have been doing various things in life before I started guiding, such as; working on a farm in the countryside, as a Chef in a summer hotel, worked as a healthcare assistant at a hospital. I have a BA degree in business and operated my own contracting company. I believe the best way to make the most of your visit in Iceland is doing it with a knowledgeable local guide. I´m passionate about traveling with my guests and showing them my beautiful country, sharing my knowledge and giving them opportunity to experience the nature, landscape, history and culture. Feel free to contact me with your ideas and thoughts and we can make interesting tour for you and your group. I look forward to welcoming you as a guest on my tours and make your trip unforgettable and safe. This journey takes us through the scenic fjords around the Troll peninsula, fishing towns and villages, and rich cultural and historic landscapes of North Iceland filled up with stories and sagas from the viking age til present times. We follow the Artic Coastline from Eyjafjörður to Skagafjörður. Our first stop is Hjalteyri picturesque herring village. Then we follow the coastline through fishing villages and towns and talk about the history on our way to Siglufjörður where we have time to explore the town and/or visit theaward-winning Herring Museum. We visit Hofsós with its beautiful harbour area and unique basalt columns. On our way to Sauðárkrókur we enjoy the scenic of the fjord Skagafjörður where we visit the old turf and farm houses in Glaumbær. That is our final stop, then we relax and enjoy the seenery through the valleys, on our way back to Akureyri. I'm very flexible at this tour and willing to adjust it at your interests and curiosity.
