I've been a professional tour guide since 2010. I work now almost full time as a licensed driving guide, taking groups of all sizes, from 1 or 2 people intimate tours up to full 50 person bus tours. I am born and raised in Iceland and love the outdoors and taking guests around Iceland, Greenland and Germany. My main base is Reykjavik, but I have a second base in Myvatn in the North of Iceland so I am happy to take tours out of Akureyri whenever possible. I am a true story teller and specially passionate about history, geology and the Iceland Sagas with a personal twist. Icelandic is my mother-tongue and I speak fluent English and German. I have three sons, two cats and one horse. I have a Master Degree in Communication in Culture from the University of Iceland and part of the study took place in the University of the Arts in Berlin, Germany. My background is in the theater and working in films, both as an actress, director and Casting director. I soon realized I was the happiest doing my side job; guiding. So, for the last years it has taken over my life, simply because I love it. I take pride in the fact that the travelers give me enthusiastic feedback and many are still in touch with me, even years after their initial trip to Iceland. They really like what I have to show them and my way of making sure that the experience is full of surprises and great enjoyment. I also love Greenland and guide tours there whenever I have a chance. My most recent review: "Everyone was THRILLED with the trip. They all said it was a fantastic vacation. They were so happy they got to see the Northern Lights for three nights but they also said all of the activities were great and the trip as a whole was wonderful. We all agreed that we wished you planned trips in every country in the world because your knowledge and your care and your price planning to meet everyone's needs are THE BEST. " All my tours can be customized upon request. 2022: Wilderness First Responser (Nols Wilderness Medicine) 2020: Licensed driving guide for big and small buses. A stunning unforgettable trip through one of the most geologically active corner of the world; volcanos, waterfalls, canyons, boiling hot springs and lunar like lava-fields. Imagine gazing out over mud pools, hot springs, and craters. Picture spotting whales breaching off the Arctic coast, or birds flying over wetlands set within a volcanic landscape. The circle is about 260 km (160 miles) long, and takes you through part of Europa's largest National Park - the Unesco site Vatnajökull National park. It is positioned in the Northern Volcanic Rift Zone, where the North American and Eurasian plates diverge. It has 5 key destinations which include the historical and picturesque Goðafoss waterfall, the unearthly blue and green landscapes of Lake Mývatn nature paradise, Dettifoss; the most powerful waterfall of Europe, the crescent-shaped wonder of Ásbyrgi canyon and Húsavík town, the whale capital of Iceland. Duration minimum 12 hours. Ideal to make this as a 2 days trip! With overnight stay in Myvatn area.
We start the day visiting the picturesque waterfall Goðafoss. From there we drive through the beautiful Myvatn Nature Reserve where we stop to gaze the beauty of the lake and it's surroundings. We head up northeast from the lake to Namaskard boiling sulphur hot springs and Viti crater. Next stop is Dettifoss: one of Europa's most powerful waterfalls, which is a part of Europas largest Vatnajökull National park. The waterfall is located in Iceland biggest canyons. They stretch through the country from the largest glacier and were formed in catastrophic glacier floods about 2000 years ago. We follow the canyons and visit the Echo cliffs - amazing columnar basalt formation - and at the mouth of the canyon we walk into cliff formation called Asbyrgi; the home of the Hidden People - the true inspiration for many stories and tales, including the elves in Tolkien's Lord of the rings, and closer to our times; Eurovision film starring Will Farrel. Last stop will be Husavik town where you can gaze over the bay.
