Iceland Day Tour Myvatn Nature Reserve

First stop will be Goðafoss, one of the most spectacular waterfall in Iceland. It is half an hour drive from Akureyri and midway to the Lake Myvatn. We walk along the banks of the river and on the way back to the car we have a change to stop at a local shop for refreshments. At arrival at Nature reserve Myvatn the first stop is at the spectacular formation of pseudo craters that dominate the landscape by the lake. Next stop is Dimmuborgir; the Lava park where we walk through the spectacular troll like formation of lava pillars. We can grab lunch at farm restaurant by the lake or pick something up at a local shop. We visit Grjótagjá fissure: half hidden open cave pool right on the rift zone. We drive over to bubbling hot spring area Namaskard where you can walk in other worldly lunar-like landscape among the sulphur mud-pots. We end the day at Myvatn Nature baths (optional) . The alkaline, mineral-rich waters are well-suited for a relaxing and rejuvenating soak and enjoy a drink at the bar in the lagoon.
