I'm a German-American from Maine who arrived in Heidelberg in the late 1970s with a single purpose: to study geology. After earning my master's and then my PhD, I often thought about moving on — yet the city never quite let me go. Nearly five decades later, Heidelberg still surprises me. Living in the shadow of Heidelberg's iconic castle ruins, I work as a city guide — and on a good week I meet hundreds of visitors from every corner of the globe. He told lots of great stories, especially up at the castle, to make the places and people come alive. He was flexible to make a few adjustments to his planed itinerary when we requested them. He also offered good tips for places to shop, eat, or to get a cold glass of good local beer later after the tour. We would happily recommend Daniel.
