Heidelberg lies on the famous, ' Bergstrasse', one of the 14 wine growing areas of Germany. Just 10 mins outside the city you can be strolling through romantic rows of vineyards, sheltered by the picturesque rolling hills. Our first stop is Schreisheim where the vineyards are all overlooked by the old ruined Castle of Strahlenberg. Here we will take a tour of the vineyards and get to know all the 14 different grapes varieties. Then it's into the quaint old town to sample some of the ever improving wines. The tour can be extended by visiting further interesting towns up the Bergstrasse such as Weinheim, Heppenheim and Bensheim. There are many delicious wines to taste, beautiful old towns to explore and endless pretty rows of vineyards to enjoy. A nice, relaxing tour into the fascinating world of German wine. . . . .
Pick up from your Hotel in Heidelberg and then drive 10 mins to wine country. In Schreisheim we will walk around the vineyards and the grape varieties grown there. Visit to the old Castle ruin of Strahlenberg and eat in the atmospheric restaurant there (optional). Carry on up the Bergstrasse to visit more quaint towns, lovely vineyards and sample delicious wines. Half day or whole day tours possible.
