Day Tour of Strasbourg and/or visit to the," Alsace Wine Road."

Just one hour from Heidelberg lies the delightful French region of Alsace. Our destination is Strasbourg. First we will take a walking tour of the charming Old Town and highly impressive Gothic cathedral, once the tallest building in Europe. On our walk we will see how the town has been shaped by it's joint French and German history. Then we will take a boat cruise on the river admiring some of Strasbourg's famous buildings including the imposing European Parliament building. This will be followed by lunch in an authentic restaurant to enjoy some of the legendary cuisine and local wine. Afterwards we will take a short drive away from the crowds to Obernai a beautiful medieval town and the start of the best part of the Wine Road. Here we can see lovely timber framed houses and buy some local specialities. Then we drive along the 'Route du vin' to admire the beautiful countryside and pretty villages. Plus stop at charming wineries to taste the excellent wines, including a number of 'Grand Crus'.
