My name is Emilie, I'm a professional tourist guide passionate about Paris and Versailles. I'm very fond of art, architecture, urbanism and fun facts !!! During my free time I love cooking and gardening. I have a true passion for cats too! I was born in Paris but I grew up in Marseille in the South of France where I studied art history. Then I moved to London to study photography and I went back to Paris and to work for the Agence France Presse. After that I became a tourist guide because I felt the need to share my passion for Paris that has never ending history. The visits I love the most would be the Louvre, Versailles and Orsay: -At the Louvre I would help you look at little details that seem unimportant but of course, they are! Talking about the context and all the aspects influencing the personal life of a painter for exemple during the creation process. -And what I like to talk about in Versailles is the everyday life of Marie-Antoinette, the food, the hygiene, and the whims but truly she had no options but to follow the etiquette as you maybe already know! But that's ok if you don't and by the way there are no silly questions, they very often help to go further in the understanding. Also how Louis XIV managed to make France the most important country in the 17th century developing the French "savoir faire" as well as bringing France to war for 50 years. -Orsay it's how those artists who by breaking the establishment completely modernized art but took many years to be admired by the French themself. Did you know Van Gogh spent the last months of his life in the beautiful village of Auvers-Sur-Oise? During this visit, I will show this pittoresque village and tell you why Van Gogh's brother chose this place for him and how the Docteur Gachet played a big role in his life, after but also in art. You will enjoy this quiet place far from the crowded and clearly less touristy despite the amazing atmosphere. We'll pay our respect in front of his grave and I will details the context that lead to his suicide. But the story doesn't end there you'll see... We'll take the train from Paris together from Gare du Nord. We can picnic there near the river. I will also tell you about other artists that lived such as Duabigny.
- Meet in Gare du Nord station in front of the plateforms - One hour train and 10mn bus - Enter the village - Auberge Ravous - City hall - Daubigny's house - Last painting by Van Gogh's amazing discovery - Flovery streets of Auvers - Church - Field - Cemetry - Back to Paris
