Hello dear Traveller, my name is Aline, born and raised in Provence (south of France). Living now at the border between Burgundy and Ile de France, I'm available to help you discover Paris as well as other places like Fontainebleau, Provins, Vaux le Vicomte, Barbizon the painter's village, etc. . . What I love about Paris ? It's a city where you can travel throughout the Time, from the Middle Age to the XXIst century all in one day. As a Licensed Tour Guide, let me guide you through time and space, providing you with keys of knowledge to appreciate places within the city or the countryside and works of Art within the numerous Parisian museum. Before being a guide, I was scriptwriter for documentary. I'm particularly interested by intangible heritage like arts and crafts. I directed few shorts films about craftsmen "savoir-faire". I attended open classes at Ecole du Louvre and the National Institute of Art History to learn more about the treasures Paris is full of, and I obtained the License for Tour Guide (French Ministry of Culture) at the CNAM (National Conservatory of Arts and Crafts). I studied Art History at La Sorbonne and Chinese Langage and civilisation at INALCO. During a seven years stay in Beijing and Hongkong, I learned Chinese Arts history and symbolism. If you are interested by Chinese Arts, I will be delighted to present you the collection of Guimet Museum and Cernuschi Museum. My tours are families friendly, so don't hesitate to book them if you are travelling with your children or grand children. My "péché mignon" is French gastronomy. . . The Louvre is an huge building overwhelming by the number of the pieces on display (35 000). Visit this giant palace/labyrinth without a guide is overwhelming. I will be more than pleased to help you enjoy you tour in the Louvre .Do you know the stories behind the Venus of Milo, Mona Lisa, etc... ? I will gladly tell you about them and so more. From the end of the 12th century , the place has been the residential palace for Queens and Kings whom put their marks on the building. I will help you to decipher those marks and learn a little be more about French history. Coming to Paris without going to the Louvre, is not a real visit of Paris. CAUTION : Following new regulation in the Louvre, the guide (me) have to book the tickets AND a reservation for the tour. If you buy directly the tickets, no guide is allowed to provide a guide service for you in the Louvre. Aline was wonderful. She brought the art to life with stories and history, knowledge and context. She expertly navigated the Louvre, maximizing our time. Aline is an amazing tour guide! She was very gracious and explained so much about the artists, pop paintings, the sculptures, history of the paintings and France- truly terrific. Our tour of The Louvre with Aline was incredible. Her passion and expert handling of a tour of such a important and expansive art museum was top notch. She incorporated our goals and interests and customized the tour to accommodate them. She has an expansive academic knowledge of the Louve and French art history that she synthesizes into understandable and approachable tour. One of our favorite aspects was that she would select a few pieces in each gallery that best represented the artist/movement/history. This was key in preventing us from feeling overwhelmed by the expansiveness of the collections and the Louvre. She is funny, personable and the tour flew by. We are already planning our next tour with her when we next visit Paris.
We loved our guide Aline, she did an awesome job getting us through the crowds. I don't think we missed anything important in spite of mobility issues with one of our group (4). She was definitely a pro at her job.
Aline was one of the best tour guides we had on this trip. She was extremely knowledgeable about all of the artwork - she was an art history major! Even pieces that were not on her original list to discuss, she knew something about the artist and helped us interpret the paintings and the sculptures. She custom tailored the tour to our interests and gave us a lot of the history of the museum as well. The Louvre is the type of museum where you really need to have a professional guide - and you need to skip a the lines. This tour did both of those things perfectly.
