My chers amis, Bonjour and welcome to Paris! Paris is a fabulous city justly described as an international capital of fashion, gastronomy, romance, art and so on. My personal love story with Paris started when I first visited France being a law student from Saint Petersburg taking part in « Chantiers bénévoles », a volunteer project consisting in a restoration of a medieval castle in the South of France. I found almost immediately that French history, heritage and people are so interesting, that I should move here forever. So, I came to France, studied history and art and obtained a diploma which enabled me to receive my official tour guide license (« carte de guide-conférencier ») in 2013. Since that, I really appreciate being a professional guide. From my childhood, I love to spend time in museums with their particulate atmosphere and charm. I love as well to share my passion for art and make the wonders of French History come alive in front of your eyes, as I take you on tour. I am not a driver. I can accompany you in your vehicle or I can arrange for a separate car and driver.

Hotel Biron, an elegant 18th century residence with its delightful garden, is a place to visit and enjoy in any season. The domain initially was built for one of the richest bankers and later, until the French Revolution was inhabited by various aristocratic families. Then, it was transformed into a prestigious Catholic school for girls, where studied such a celebrity as Eugenie Montijo, future Empress of the French. In 1905 the domain was confiscated by the French Government from the Church and rented to the colony of artists, including such personalities as Isadora Duncan or Rainer Maria Rilke. The Museum consecrated to Rodin was open in its walls in 1919. Auguste Rodin, born in Paris in 1840 is regarded as a father of the modern sculpture. His genius can be compared with such personalities as Claude Monet (his contemporary) and Pablo Picasso (his admirer and « artistically speaking » a disciple).
The visit starts in the Garden, with two bronze sculptures: The Thinker (the most known) and The Gate of Hell (the most important). Then, the Burgers of Calais, a sculpture that commemorates an event during the Hundred Years War. After that, we will stroll through the 18 rooms of the museum to see the evolution of Rodin's career, his working methods, personal life, love affairs, personal art collection including paintings by Monet and Van Gogh and Rodin's Made portraits of French writers such as Balzac, Victor Hugo and Bodler. By the end of the tour, you will have a better understanding not only of modern art, but also of French history and mentality.
