Hello there! My name is Anne. Born and bred in Burgundy, I moved to Paris to attend university and never left again! I settled "Rive Gauche" (Left Bank of the Seine river) 25 years ago and after a career as a financial analyst for large international companies, I resumed my studies in History of Art at Paris' famous Ecole du Louvre. After graduating in 2014, I decided to become a private tour guide to share with international visitors my passion for Parisian culture, art and history. Each tour will be tailor-made to match your personal interests, at your own pace and with time to stand and stare. Just tell me what your idea of a dream trip is and I will make it happen! I offer half-day and full day tours which consist of cultural visits, relaxing walks and gourmet breaks in trendy places. In addition to the numerous must-sees, I will introduce you to my favorite hidden spots and we will wander Paris' secret nooks and crannies. Your tour will start and end wherever you fancy: your hotel, a café… Just let me know and I will be there! We will get around by foot and public transports as they are ideal for discovering Paris without getting stuck in traffic jams! *** IMPORTANT NOTICE: please make sure you double-check my availability calendar before sending me a request for tours less than 2 months away. If I am down as unavailable, my calendar will already be set which means I will not be able to offer you a tour. A stroll back in time in Paris' best-preserved historic district
Overview of your Paris tour
Did you know that in the 1950s, an urban renewal plan proposed by Le Corbusier himself was to raze the Marais? Fortunately, this project was abandoned and instead, as of 1964, an Historic Preservation Plan was adopted. Let me therefore introduce you to Paris' best-preserved historic district. It hosts the oldest covered market (1615), the oldest Royal square (1612), the most beautiful aristocratic mansions from the 17th century, not to mention the Old Jewish quarter. However, far from being an open-air museum, the Marais is one of the liveliest districts in Paris, with trendy boutiques, contemporary art galleries, traditional cafés, authentic bakeries… and the best falafels in town!
Your Paris tour itinerary
The itinerary could include the major landmarks, such as: - Place des Vosges - Hotel de Sully - Hotel de Soubise and the gardens - Marché des Enfants Rouges - Jewish district with the rue des Rosiers - Church of Saint-Paul-Saint-Louis. Should we visit the church, please ensure that you are dressed appropriately (no tank tops, no exposed shoulders, no short shorts, please!) - Village Saint-Paul and so much more, depending on your own interests, but it will also include my favourite lesser-known sights! This tour can be done every day. However, I would not recommend doing it on Monday as a few interesting sites are closed on that day.
