Hi, I'm Thierry! My love for History was sparked by my Corsican Grandfather, a war Veteran and Knight of the Legion of Honor. As early as elementary school, History was my favorite subject. My purpose is to share my passion in a way that is entertaining and easy to understand. I have spent over 10 years in the U. S. and the U. K. and having been immersed in other cultures and national narratives gives me the hindsight to approach historical events with different perspectives. My favorite period is the late 1700s: the French Revolution, Napoleon, and the American Revolution. Times when a few brave men, moved by their conviction in a greater cause, changed the course of history. I have been offering tours for five years on a full time basis although I had started this activity long before on week-ends. My knowledge is drawn from years of reading hundreds of books from different sources and points of view and attending history talks and art lectures from experts such as Jean Tulard, Thierry Lentz, David Chanteranne, Pierre Branda, etc. and attended courses from "Les Paris de l'Art" (Art history from Paris Museums Organisation). Please note I am not a licensed guide yet and will not be able to guide you inside of the historical monuments. Also, I am not a driver. I can accompany you in your vehicle or I can arrange for a separate car and driver.

What is Absolute Monarchy and why was it implemented in France? We will start our journey with the Religious Wars that divided France, we will go through the reigns of five Bourbon Kings: Henry IV, Louis XIII, Louis XIV, Louis XV, Louis XVI. We will explore each one of their personalities, their achievments and failures. . . We will mingle with the famous Queens and the infamous royal "favourites": Madame de La Pompadour; Madame du Barry, etc. with the glitz and glamour of the palace lifestyle, love affairs, dangerous liaisons, and scandals from the royal court. In the midst of wars of thrones, political feuds, family betrayals, assassinations, beheadings, we will also understand how the age of reason came about with the voices of Voltaire and Rousseau and how a Revolution of ideas planted its seeds. . .

Walking on the Kings and Queens' footsteps, we will see major landmarks: The Place de la Bastille ; The Place des Vosges ; The Conciergerie ; The Hôtel de Ville ; The île de la Cité ; The exact spot where Queen Marie-Antoinette was sentenced to death and imprisoned as well as off-the-beaten path locations where major events took place. We will end the tour on the île de la Cité, near a métro station.
