The French Revolution Walking Tour

We followed a WWII French Resistance walking tour with Thierry with his French Revolution walking tour the next morning! He did not disappoint. We were with our adult children and none of us had great knowledge of this part of France's history. Once again, he made it come alive for us. Thierry has such a gift of explaining things and taking you through the various monarchies (each with its peculiarities) and the dissent that ensued among those living marginally, experiencing hardships and inequalities. Again, his microphone makes it easy for groups like ours to hear him, even on busy street corners where some of the treasures of the past are located. Every guide should use such a system. Thierry is serious about the information, but presents it in a lively way, with a great sense of humor. Highly recommend him.

Thierry was on time, well prepared, and gave a great tour. He used appropriate visual aids to help present the story and the people of the Revolution. He was personable. He was also resourceful in finding ways around construction or unexpected events in the tour area. If you want to understand more about the enigma that is the French Revolution, take this tour.

Such a great tour. Such a great guide. We took both Thierry's French Revolution and WWII tour and enjoyed them both thoroughly. Thierry is both knowledgable and a wonderful story teller. He is thoroughly engaging and was by far our best guide in Paris. Wish we could take him with us as we continue on in France! Highly recommend without any reservation!!

Excellent tour by an knowledgable guide. Thierry was well-versed in historical background leading up to the revolution, events in Paris, and how the revolution impacted French society. The trick with a tour like this is to bring now-lost-to-development places and sites to life when there's traffic zooming around you. Thierry had photos and images that helped breath life into the scene. It's such a dramatic story--and we have a keen interest in it--so Thierry was able to to deepen his information in response to our enthusiasm. A wonderful walk through central Paris, not too demanding physically (on a hot day!), plenty of places to stop and reflect.

Well ... If you can hold a 16 and 14 year old and their parents spellbound for two hours talking about the French revolution, you know you're good at your job. Thierry's tour was full of fun and querky facts, underpinned by a real knowledge of and passion for not just the revolution itself but its context in French and European history. Excellent tour.
