Private Tour of the Musée d'Orsay with an Art Historian

We booked Eleonore's tours for both the Louvre and Musee d’Orsay during our stay in Paris, and suffice to say, we were not disappointed! She gave us a thorough and detailed explanation of the history, mythology, and artistic significance of various works in these museums while expertly placing them within the context of the lives of the artists who created them. While she provided excellent exposition, what set Eleonore apart was how she kept us engaged throughout the tours, making us feel like active participants in our education. Of the many guides we chartered during our visit in western Europe, Eleonore was quite possibly the best, being both incredibly insightful and a great pleasure to chat with! Highly recommended for those with even the slightest interest in art and history. We will most definitely be calling on Eleonore for our next visit to Paris! Hopefully in the near future!

My wife and I have visited the Musee D’Orsay many times in the past but this visit was as by far the best. Eleonore is a great storyteller with a vivid style and she brought the pictures to life. In particular she described the origin of the museum and the evolution of the art within it. Some of Eleanore’s stories about individual paintings were absolutely fascinating and brought a whole new level of appreciation. I highly recommend Eleonore for a private tour and will definitely be looking her up for our next visit to Paris.

Touring with Eleanore was outstanding. She is so knowledgeable that it made the impressionist artists come alive, who started it, who learned from whom, how the era progressed and developed to cubism and what distinguishes this era of art. Musee d’Dorseeis Eleanore’s favorite in all of Paris. She also took us to her next favorite- Sainte Chappell- A Don’t Miss It!!! Eleanore will show you the intricacy of the most unique and largest display of stained glass in a church and how this amazing church was developed under King Louis the 9th Elanore’s questions to you during a tour keep you engaged and blown away with new unique information and history!

Eleonore did such a wonderful job of explaining who the Impressionists were and how their work was so different from the accepted art at the time. We had a range of novices to those who knew a lot about the Impressionists. She was able to make the tour of the d'Orsay interesting for everyone. Thank you!

This was by far the best tour we took in Paris. We had tours at several popular sites in Paris and Eléonore's tour at Musee d'Orsay was the best. She gave an amazing tour! We highly recommend this tour.
