Bonjour and Welcome to Paris! My name is Pierre-yves. Originally from central France and with numerous stints abroad, I am at heart a Parisian and have called Paris home for over 20 years. I am a national-licensed guide offering private tours either walking or with professional car service in English, Spanish and French. I have a degree in French & Art History and have been touring for over 15 years. I am a Certified National Guide - meaning I hold the French government accreditation to privately guide inside monuments and state museums. I specialize in private custom tours, tailoring to travelers specific interests while also sharing my best insider knowledge about this magical city and region. As an avid traveler myself (and married to an American), I respect both the passion and needs of foreigners. We will celebrate in the discovery of a new place together while also catering to the practical demands of the day. Outside of Europe, I have explored the USA, Mexico, China, India, Southeast Asia and the South Pacific extensively. The experience of unveiling a new culture and country firsthand is unspeakably fulfilling. I invite you to discover Paris and France with me ! Together we will take in the magnificent architecture, art and history and behold the treasures of famous museums like the Louvre, Orsay and Rodin. We can waltz into the luring corridors and lush gardens at Versailles and Fontainebleau; venture to the breathtaking shores of Normandy and retrace the steps of WWII soldiers; explore the majestic chateaux dotting the Loire Valley and walk the footsteps of Leonardo di Vinci to Amboise; follow the Seine on Claude Monet's journey to the waterlillies of Giverny and the Cathedral of Rouen; taste the rich blends of pinot noir and chardonnay in Champagne and indulge our palates with the world class grapes of Burgundy vines. Along with art and history, I am also immensely passionate for craft food and natural wine, especially when it comes to sharing them in my favorite, local spots. I'm always scouting for the best markets, bistros, cafes, bakeries, cheese, wine, and coffee shops. Part of the magic of private guiding is bringing you to places you wouldn't find on your own and sharing my insider knowledge. I look forward to welcoming you to my favorite place in the world with experiences to last a lifetime ! - National Licensed Guide "Guide Conférencier". The world's most famous cemetery, Père-Lachaise welcomes more than 3. 5 million visitors every year. It's name originates from the confessor of King Louis XIV, Father François d'Aix de La Chaise. Located in the east side of Paris, the stroll along the cobblestone pathways is leafy and hilly offering exquisite views of the city. The cemetery is an outdoor museum loaded with remarkable, unique funeral art. But its most alluring features are the final resting spots of celebrities like Jim Morrison, Edith Piaf, Frédéric Chopin, Oscar Wilde, Honoré de Balzac, Eugène Delacroix & Camille Pissarro. Quickly overwhelming in its size, let me guide you with ease to these monumental tombs on an enjoyable walk packed with stories of those laid to rest and of the cemetery itself.
1 - Meet in front of Père Lachaise cemetery's main entrance : 28 boulevard de Menilmontant 75020 Paris, (Père Lachaise metro station on line 2 & line 3) 2 - Stroll the beautiful & scenic cemetery stopping at famous graves such as Jim Morrison, Edith Piaf, Oscar Wilde, Frédéric Chopin and many more. 3 - Enjoy a breathtaking vista of Paris by the chapel & discover the architecturally impressive crématorium 4 - Finish the tour at the rear entrance of the cemetery on a pleasant leafy street with cafés, where it is also convenient to catch a taxi or metro (Gambetta metro station on line 3) Note : the tour is on cobblestone pathways mostly uphill, yet slow-paced. Also possible to request a downhill itinerary (starting at the rear entrance by Gambetta and finishing at the main gate on blvd Menilmontant)
