Hello world! I am Nikki, a Chinese-French girl grew up in an international environment and now living in Paris. I will be more than happy welcoming you in my beloved Paris! While always working in Finance and travelling around the world for my job and my own thirst of discovery , I followed classes of art history, I was also a freelance contributor to lifestyle media's and co-created a booking agency to promote French electronic musicians in Asia. These various experiences lead me to the most privileged happenings in the City of Light and nurtured my strong desire to share my secret find of Paris and exchange with rest of the world. I lived in all the hippest neighborhood in Paris, le Marais, Canal st martin, Parc Monceau and Belleville, with the time I accumulated good knowledge and network of artists, galleries, designers, food shops, concept stores, cocktail bars and other off-the-beaten-track address. I love Paris as a local but also as a tourist, I have a strong passion to find the best-kept-secret and share my personal addresses to the ones who are curious to discover the hidden gems and sensitive to culture and human contacts. The district of Montparnasse, in the 14th arrondissement of Paris, is today embodied by the bold, black and tall Tour Montparnasse and one of the most dynamic train stations in the Capital. At the beginning of the 20th century though, it was the epicentre of an artistic and intellectual life that was as dynamic as it was talented. Still flying under the tourist radar, this district of the Left Bank witnesses the passage of numerous French and expatriate artists who ingeniously put into practice the free-spirited buzz of the Roaring Twenties, that some today still compare to a certain "French art de vivre"! Among them some of the greatest Americans artists and writers, Hemingway, Fitzgerald, Man Ray, Joséphine Baker, Henry Miller, and of course international giants such as Picasso and Chagall. They use to dance and twirl until the early hours in the brasseries on Boulevard Montparnasse, whose names have now become legendary -Le Dôme, La Rotonde, Le Select, La Coupole, as well as Closerie des Lilas.
Weather was not co-operative for the day but Nikki showed up, as enthusiastic as one can expect and no less through out. Shared with us her knowledge of Montarnasse and relived the Paris's bohemian and artistic life in the 1920's. We had a great tour.
Nikke has fine historical insight to cultural Paris, which she interestingly shared during our tour. We heartily recommend her tour of the left bank and the '20s.
We had the most wonderful and informative tour with Nikki today. She was so engaging and knowledgeable and kept the pace just right as we were a mixed group of children and an older person with mobility issues. She very effortlessly made adaptations to our tour to cater for these issues and kept us all so engaged! We will take these lovely memories home with us. Thank you Nikki!
This is a wonderful tour. Very interesting and it shows the side of Paris I wasn't familiar with. Nikki is a great guide! She is very knowledgeable about arts and literature and is great and providing context to historical events and figures. Highly recommend this tour.
