Living now at the border between Burgundy and Ile de France, I'm available to help you discover Paris as well as other places like Fontainebleau, Provins, Vaux le Vicomte, Barbizon the painter's village, etc. . . What I love about Paris ? It's a city where you can travel throughout the Time, from the Middle Age to the XXIst century all in one day. As a Licensed Tour Guide, let me guide you through time and space, providing you with keys of knowledge to appreciate places within the city or the countryside and works of Art within the numerous Parisian museum. Before being a guide, I was scriptwriter for documentary. I'm particularly interested by intangible heritage like arts and crafts. I directed few shorts films about craftsmen "savoir-faire". I attended open classes at Ecole du Louvre and the National Institute of Art History to learn more about the treasures Paris is full of, and I obtained the License for Tour Guide (French Ministry of Culture) at the CNAM (National Conservatory of Arts and Crafts). I studied Art History at La Sorbonne and Chinese Langage and civilisation at INALCO. During a seven years stay in Beijing and Hongkong, I learned Chinese Arts history and symbolism. If you are interested by Chinese Arts, I will be delighted to present you the collection of Guimet Museum and Cernuschi Museum. My tours are families friendly, so don't hesitate to book them if you are travelling with your children or grand children. My "péché mignon" is French gastronomy. . . So I'm also culinary certified Tourist Guide. So let's discover all the treasures of Paris and the Ile de France together !! August Rodin, sculptor of the 19th century, was famous in Europe and in USA for his "thinker", for the "Bourgeois de Calais", his portraits of Victor Hugo and Balzac. Through his sculptures he was a wonderful storyteller. Rejected twice by the Fine Arts Academy, he was influenced by Michel Angelo and succeed in imposing his powerful style, between romantism and impressionism. He had a deep influence with his unconventional technique on several of his students : Jacques Maillol, Antoine Bourdelle. Famous painters such as Eugène Carrière, Claude Monet, Camile Pissaro were part of his cercle of friends. His rich love life was also a gossip subject for the "good society". He had a tumultuous love affair with Camille Claudel, and after their separation, continued to have love affairs with his female students and very wealthy American commissioners. . .
In Rodin museum : - his difficult debuts in the sculpture world - his first sculpture created in the total inconfort of a stable (only place he could afford) - his work in the studio of Carrier-Belleuse - l' "Age d'Airain" presented at the Academy and wrongly dismissed as a plaster cast - His work process with several parts of sculpture in different stages of accomplishment - Some of his famous portraits commissioned - His personal "cabinet of curiosité", his collection of antique casts. In Orsay museum : - The Balzac portrait (very controversial) - Various works of his students (Maillol, Bourdelle, Claudel) - More commissioned works To compare with others sculptors of his time, and see the evolution of the sculpture toward modernity.
