It retains walls and 14th century donjon which is the tallest in Europe. The gothic Sainte-Chapelle is an exceptional example of the Flamboyant style and took over 170 years to complete. If you want to see a real medieval palace and the seat of the French Monarchy before Louis the XIV moved the court to Versailles, visit the Château de Vincennes. To visit absolutely!
