Hi, I'm Thierry! My love for History was sparked by my Corsican Grandfather, a war Veteran and Knight of the Legion of Honor. As early as elementary school, History was my favorite subject. My purpose is to share my passion in a way that is entertaining and easy to understand. I have spent over 10 years in the U. S. and the U. K. and having been immersed in other cultures and national narratives gives me the hindsight to approach historical events with different perspectives. My favorite period is the late 1700s: the French Revolution, Napoleon, and the American Revolution. Times when a few brave men, moved by their conviction in a greater cause, changed the course of history. I have been offering tours for five years on a full time basis although I had started this activity long before on week-ends. My knowledge is drawn from years of reading hundreds of books from different sources and points of view and attending history talks and art lectures from experts such as Jean Tulard, Thierry Lentz, David Chanteranne, Pierre Branda, etc. and attended courses from "Les Paris de l'Art" (Art history from Paris Museums Organisation). Please note I am not a licensed guide yet and will not be able to guide you inside of the historical monuments. Also, I am not a driver. I can accompany you in your vehicle or I can arrange for a separate car and driver.

Overview of your Paris tour
The Art Nouveau movement appeared during the "Belle Epoque". It manifested itself through art, design, jewelry, furniture and even architecture. The beautiful metro entrances in Paris are in the style of Art Nouveau and they are the creations of Hector Guimard, a visionary architect who spearheaded this movement before anybody else. He was on a mission to bring art into people's lives. A selection of his creations will help you understand the evolution of his unique approach to architecture: from his early experimental years, to his refined and elegant "modern style", then to the last phase of his career. We will also see a few examples of Art Déco buildings so you will be able to identify and differentiate both styles.
Your Paris tour itinerary
ITINERARY This tour takes place in the very chic 16th arrondissement of Paris where architect Hector Guimard lived and built superb Art Nouveau architecture. We will see: - The famous Castel Béranger which is considered his groundbreaking masterpiece ; - Houses built at different times and showing the evolution of his work ; - Hôtel Guimard - his own townhouse ; - Several apartment buidlings designed for people of all social classes! While we cannot enter these homes, I will use my tablet to show photos of the interiors with their original furniture in the style of Art Nouveau. We will end the tour at 2, rue Jean de la Fontaine, which is a few minutes walk from a métro station. During the tour, there will be an opportunity for a get drinks/pastries to go and a restroom break. * This itinerary can be customized.
