Hello Everyone, Welcome to Paris, the city of light, love and the Louvre. My name's Jessica and I am originally from the grand old city of Liverpool in the UK. I moved to Paris around 20 years ago which I believe qualifies me as a Parisian now. I love Paris, with its history, its architecture, the way of life. Every day I discover new things about this city which make me fall in love with it all over again. It was this love for Paris and the desire to meet people from all over the world that brought me to the great profession of guiding. I started working in the tourism sector around 25 years ago. I had a wonderful opportunity to take music groups, choirs, and orchestras around Italy and France. This was an amazing experience where not only did I share my love of these countries with children and adults of all ages, but I also had the pleasure of hearing them sing or play in some of the most stunning locations in Europe: Saint Mark's Cathedral in Venice, the Basilica St Francis of Assisi and in the gardens behind Notre Dame de Paris. As the Cole Porter Song says 'I love Paris every moment', there is always something special happening: festivals, sports events, concerts, art fairs, new restaurants opening. So as well as sharing my insights about the magnificent monuments and museums, we can also discuss what's happening in Paris today. I studied to get the French National guiding license which consists of learning about French history, literature and art history, and thanks to this I can guide you in the best museums of Paris: The Louvre, Orsay, Pompidou, and in memorable monuments like Notre Dame, the Sainte Chapelle, Conciergerie and many more. I am also passionate about contemporary art, so for clients who wish to discover more about the contemporary art scene here in Paris, I can customize tours along this theme. I can't wait to meet you and share those special moments that enrich our lives when we discover new things and meet new people. - National guiding license for France - Professional training consultant diploma - Diploma to teach English to speakers of other languages I am not a driver but the public transport system in Paris is an excellent way to get around the city.

Equally impressive as what's inside this magnificent museum is the building itself, a former railway station and luxury hotel, saved from destruction in the 70's and transformed into a museum in the 80's. Once inside, you'll be immersed in the world of Manet, Monet, Renoir, and other masters of the 19th and 20th centuries. We will go back in time and learn about this group of artists who revolutionized the artistic world. We can talk about how the impressionist movement was born, who were its protagonists and the relationships between them. We will learn about the scandals that shocked the art world, how some of our favorite paintings in this museum were laughed at and scorned by the art academy. I remember coming to the Orsay as a teenager and the excitement I felt seeing Claude Monet's paintings of water lilies and the poppy field. I still feel the same excitement when I look out at Paris through the Orsay station's clock. It's a magical experience that I can't wait to share with you
The visit starts on the ground floor where we can discover what were the expectations of the art academy by visiting artworks by Delacroix, Ingres, Millet , Courbet and Manet. We will then travel up to the 5th floor and take a look through the clock window at the beautiful view of the 'Sacre Coeur' and the right bank of Paris We will then stroll through the Impressionist gallery and spend time talking about works by Monet, Renoir, Degas, Cezanne , Mary Cassat and other impressionist artists. Then we will move on to the neo and post impressionist works ending the tour with famous works by Van Gogh like Starry night and some of his self portraits. The Orsay museum often lends out it's works to other museums thus Starry night is not always on show here. If you have any specific interests or art works you would like to see in the Orsay museum, then just let me know and I can customize the tour for you.
