I have used Tours By Locals on many trips. Gustavo was one of the best guides I have had the pleasure of spending time with. He was very attentive to my interest and several times recommended something that I had not even thought of and every time it turned out great. I cannot imagine having anywhere near the amazing experience I had on this trip without Gustavo as my guide. It felt like I was hanging out with a very good friend that was showing me a part of his country he is very proud of. We just returned from our 4 day driving tour of Ecuador with Gustavo. It was everything we could have wished for. Gustavo worked with us ahead of time to design a 4 day trip specifically for our preferences and hopes. His recommendations were spot on. A cross section of high mountain scenery to waterfalls to jungle rain forest. He ruled out the high mountain hiking for us 70+ sea-level Americans. His 15 plus years of full time tour guiding experience really paid off. Our time with Gustavo was fantastic. Long discussions about Ecuadoran History and Culture. Discussions about Ecuadoran local area economies, Ecuadoran politics. Discussions about Ecuadoran nature.

We spent 4 days with Gustavo visiting the sites south of Quito and it was an amazing adventure. Gus is very mindful and careful of his clients and this thoughtfulness meant he made adjustments and paced the trip perfectly for us. We visited Cotopaxi and Quilotoa; Banos and some of the attractions near by; Tena and the rainforest. Gus arranged all the activities on the river and in the rainforest - it was perfect. We can't thank Gus enough for our trip, and we'd certainly recommend him for anyone thinking of visiting the amazing areas near Quito.

We spent two days with Gustavo on this tour. Gustavo took care of all the details and made sure our days were perfect. He worked with us to adjust to our interests and made sure we get to do and see the things we care about. Gustavo was fun to chat with about the history and culture of Ecuador. He has a wealth of information on many different subject.

On April 28th, 2022 my husband and I met our guide, Gustavo for a week-long tour around the historic part of Quito, to the Mitad del Mundo, onto a full day in Otavalo, and three nights in Baños. With Gustavo, we saw unbelievable gorgeous sights and beautiful picturesque sceneries, and what made it more interesting and impressive was how knowledgeable Gustavo was and how interesting every little detail became. He is the best and has become our friend for life! Thank you Gustavo-Carlos and I are blessed♥️

My family and I had an incredible day! Gustovo was amazing as usual. We had him for 4 days of travel and 4 rides to and from the airport. Gustavo was always on time (early) and was more than willing to accommodate. There was no request to big or to small. when we bought a canvas picture he bought us the supplies to ship it home (all between 8pm and the next morning at 7 am). Bano's was a long drive but worth it. We bike rode, walked to the waterfall, had a great meal in town and did the zip lines!!!!
