Hi, my name is David and I was born and raised in Quito, Ecuador. I have a university degree in Ecology and tourism and over 16 years ago I started working as a naturalist guide in the lodges located in the Ecuadorian Amazon Rain forest. However, nowadays, I guide everywhere in Ecuador! During all my years working as a guide, I have been learning more about Ecuador, not only about nature but also about the history & culture of my country and the indigenous groups that inhabited it. Due to my work I also got the chance to explore and travel to several sites and destinations inside Ecuador so I have added those special visits to my tours. I have guided groups as well as independent travelers coming from many parts of the world, which allowed me to know firsthand the needs and requirements of the different guests visiting this country. Some of my hobbies come handy with my work as a guide, and gave me a plus in my job such as: photography of fauna and nature, bird watching and trekking. Currently I am working as a TBL Tour Guide and I have been doing it since 2017 enjoying it very much. With this new situation of the pandemic I kept myself learning more about art and culture of Quito and Ecuador and I am preparing all my tours to go according to my client's requests. My tours range from City Tours of the Old Town in Quito, to day trips and circuits to the surrounding areas of Quito and around the country. From the Amazon Rainforest and through the Andes. Plus all the itineraries can be customized to meet your needs. I look forward to seeing you in Quito and Ecuador! David National Tourist Guide Licence provided by the Ministry of Tourism in Ecuador. I have training and experience in Bird watching Basic Ecuadorian geology training First Aids training

A short 2-day tour of full-on birding in the northwest of Ecuador. The diversity of birds and the short distances between birding sites make this tour perfect for a quick 2-day bird-watching trip. This tour will take us to private reserves and family-run projects that work to attract birds, as well as some road birding (according to your preferences), all in an effort to spot as many species as possible over the two days. We'll be moving through altitudes ranging from 11,000 feet down to 4,000 feet. This difference in elevation will keep us busy enjoying the many bird species along the way. Some of the key species for this trip include: Chestnut-naped Antpitta, Equatorial Antpitta, Sword-billed Hummingbird, Plate-billed Mountain-Toucan, Golden-headed Quetzal, Andean Cock-of-the-Rock, Toucan Barbet, Rose-faced Parrot, Orange-breasted Fruiteater, plus several species of tanagers and many more species of hummingbirds.
Day 1: Early start from your hotel, continuing to the Pichincha mountains and the birding reserves (bring some breakfast with you). We may make a couple of short birding stops, but our main goal is to reach one of the reserves, where we'll enjoy watching birds arrive at the feeders — a great spot for photographers. We'll continue toward the Tandayapa Valley, birding along the road until we arrive at one of the best hummingbird gardens. We'll go for lunch and then to the Andean Cock-of-the-Rock lek, where we'll see males displaying to attract females. We'll continue on to our lodge for the night. Day 2: Early start for birding at Mashpi Amagusa Reserve, currently one of the best sites for spotting uncommon birds. We'll continue to Sacha Guatusa for some other rare species before returning to Quito.
