Hi, my name is David and I was born and raised in Quito, Ecuador. I have a university degree in Ecology and tourism and over 16 years ago I started working as a naturalist guide in the lodges located in the Ecuadorian Amazon Rain forest. However, nowadays, I guide everywhere in Ecuador! During all my years working as a guide, I have been learning more about Ecuador, not only about nature but also about the history & culture of my country and the indigenous groups that inhabited it. Due to my work I also got the chance to explore and travel to several sites and destinations inside Ecuador so I have added those special visits to my tours. I have guided groups as well as independent travelers coming from many parts of the world, which allowed me to know firsthand the needs and requirements of the different guests visiting this country. Some of my hobbies come handy with my work as a guide, and gave me a plus in my job such as: photography of fauna and nature, bird watching and trekking. Currently I am working as a TBL Tour Guide and I have been doing it since 2017 enjoying it very much. With this new situation of the pandemic I kept myself learning more about art and culture of Quito and Ecuador and I am preparing all my tours to go according to my client's requests. My tours range from City Tours of the Old Town in Quito, to day trips and circuits to the surrounding areas of Quito and around the country. From the Amazon Rainforest and through the Andes. Plus all the itineraries can be customized to meet your needs. I look forward to seeing you in Quito and Ecuador! David National Tourist Guide Licence provided by the Ministry of Tourism in Ecuador. I have training and experience in Bird watching Basic Ecuadorian geology training First Aids training

This full-day tour is designed for clients interested in bird watching and photography. We'll be birding across different altitudes in the western cloud forest, beginning in the Andean cloud forest of upper Pichincha and continuing down to a lower-elevation section of the forest in Tandayapa Valley, where a greater diversity of bird species can be found. Representative species include the Chestnut-naped Antpitta, Equatorial Antpitta, several mountain tanager species, and numerous hummingbird species, among others. The day finishes with a visit to a lek to observe the Andean cock-of-the-rock. Ecuador is one of the most biodiverse countries in the world — not only in its fauna, but also in its flora and ecosystems.
6:00 AM — Pick-up from your hotel and drive to the Pichincha volcano area to visit one of the birding reserves. At this first stop, we'll have bird feeders that facilitate encounters with several species, including the Chestnut-naped Antpitta, Equatorial Antpitta, Sword-billed Hummingbird, and more. After a good amount of time birding at this location, we'll continue to a lower elevation, trying to spot birds along the road. We'll arrive at a hummingbird garden, where we'll have the chance to see and photograph not only hummingbirds but tanagers as well. We'll then head to lunch and finish the day visiting the Andean Cock-of-the-Rock lek, at a great spot for photographing it. We'll arrive back in Quito in the late afternoon/evening. If your hotel does not serve breakfast that early, please check with them about arranging a packed breakfast.
