I am a native Copenhagener with a deep knowledge of Denmark. I have lived and travelled abroad extensively, and I really enjoy welcoming foreigners to the city I love so much. I both do walking tours in Copenhagen and bike or bus tours in or out of Copenhagen. My tours are always custom-designed to fit your interests and needs, and I hope you will experience that you both meet a local friend but also a deeply professional tour guide who really knows his city and culture and can put together a great tour and a great day/days for you. My interests span history over architecture and city planning to modern society and life in Denmark and beyond. I have guided professionally since 2014, but I also have a human resource background and a M. Sc. in Intercultural communication, and when I don't do guided tours, I teach Danish culture and Danish business culture to high-skilled foreigners coming to Copenhagen to work through my own company. Some of the low season, I also lead tours through Europe for an Australian company. Most of my tours in Copenhagen are walking tours, simply because it's the best way to explore inner Copenhagen and the surrounding districts - it's a compact city, and cars don't have a high priority, so walking (or biking) is the best way to get around the central parts of the city. (If you prefer biking or bussing instead of walking, that is also possible). For tours outside Copenhagen I mostly use a trusted bus driver and his bus, but I can also make (more economical) versions using public transport. I would like to give you a tour where you both see the Copenhagen highlights but also satisfy your curiosity of the modern life in Denmark, whatever your interests might be. During the longer tour, I like to include places where you can try a traditional Danish lunch - the "smørrebrød" (open faced sandwiches) - probably the most important addition from the Danish kitchen, and a thing I something do workshops in myself and like to present to guests. Apart from living in Copenhagen, I have spent 4-5 years living abroad (the United States, Argentina and Germany especially). I like to do outstanding tours and service, so if you need some help to plan the rest of your trip in Copenhagen before or after our tour, I am also happy to give advice. I really like meeting people from other countries, and hope to see you on one of my tours. MSc in Intercultural communication and management, university studies in Pennsylvania, USA and Buenos Aires, Argentina Official Danish tourist guide license from Roskilde University (one year full time studies) Broad and deep knowledge of Denmark, Europe and beyond - traveling, living abroad, and meeting people from different cultures have been my interest since childhood. I will not drive myself but hire a driver and van (or accompany you in your vehicle) on the tours that requires driving. (Both for insurance reasons and because I like to focus on the guiding).

This tour mixes a city walk - with some of the well-known and lesser-known highlights of Copenhagen - with an introduction to Danish history and not least Danish culture!! Why Danish Culture? Danish culture is actually quite extreme compared to other countries! There's currently a lot of hype around the "Happiest Nation in the World", Danish "hygge" (cosiness), the Danish welfare system ("flexicurity"), low crime rates, Scandinavian "Noir", biking, sustainable energy, food, architecture and more. And a little less about the more shadowy sides - loneliness, falling birth rates, skepticism of "Bruxelles", or immigration. I have been teaching courses in Danish culture and Danish business culture for the last ten years, and this tour is a condensed version of such a course, folded out in central Copenhagen, so it's both good for seeing the main sights as a first-time visitor to the city, and coming under the surface for a returning traveler or ex-pat resident.
Danish Culture through some of the highlights of Copenhagen. The content will be adjusted to your interests but include: Low hierarchy Religious practices Work-life balance Gender equality and minority's rights Political development History - how Denmark went from a much bigger country to end up as a small country at the outskirts of Europe And the highlights we will visit include: - Vor Frue Kirke (Church of our Lady) - Christiansborg - the Danish Parliament - Thorvaldsens Museum - Gråbrødre Torv - Copenhagen Town Hall - Rainbow Square - The Hans Christian Andersen Statue - Tivoli (Christiansborg and Thorvaldsens Museum can be visited with extra time, but otherwise are only from the outside) I have a wide area of interests that I can draw on, and from living abroad (in the US, Argentina, and Germany), I can also put things into perspective. I thoroughly enjoy exploring Copenhagen, my native city, with visitors, and I look forward to making it the best possible day for you.
