I am a 48 year old journalist and author who live near Copenhagen with my wife Maya and my seven year old daughter Esther. I am talkative, have a keen eye for the great story and have a lot of humour - even when the subjects are serious. As a guide I have great knowledge of the chosen subjects and a lot of experience in making you feel comfortable, smart and entertained. I have written a couple of books - one about cemeteries and one about second world war - and have given hundreds of lectures and tours. I offer tours on historical subjects with an eye for the telling details without missing the great picture. My subjects right now is: - Death and drama in Copenhagen, a collection of stories about dramatic events througout history and how they shaped the city and the nation. - The Nazi occupation, where I tell about the German invasion and the five years that followed - from the resque of the Danish jews, the resistance movement and the politicians who worked to keep Denmark save and to the Danish nazi, the German terror and the victims of the oppression. - Assistens Cemetery, a cemetery that is also a park and resting place for Hans Christian Andersen, Niels Bohr, Søren Kierkegaard and a lot of other famous and lesser known Danes. - Bispebjerg Cemetery - the German occupation and second world war as told through the graves on the cemetery. - Dragør - a small sailing village close to Copenhagen, known for it's beautiful yellow houses, which are on the Danish UNESCO tentative list. - Store Magleby and the Dutch. A walking tour of my new hometown 10 kilometres from Copenhagen. The history of Store Magleby is unique - it was founded by Dutch settlers 500 years ago, and their influence is still visible in the area. All my tours can of cause be customized, and if you are interested in another historical subject, just ask! I look forward to showing you my great city! I am a trained journalist who mainly works with history and have been guiding for about seven years. I am very experienced in giving lectures all over Denmark. I am not a driver. I can accompany you in your vehicle or I can arrange for a separate car and driver at your expense. However, Copenhagen, Dragør and Store Magleby are best experienced by foot.

Whether you're a history enthusiast, an art lover, or simply seeking a memorable day trip, a trip to Frederiksborg Castle in Northern Zealand is a must during your visit to Copenhagen. And why not use the trip to explore a typical Danish midsize city while you're at it - with a local, who were born and raised ind Hillerød and have written a couple of books and a ton of articles about Hillerød and Frederiksborg Castle. The grandeur of Frederiksborg Castle is a world class experience - the stunning rooms has exquisite art and decor and a history to match. I will tell you about the great stories, triumphs and tragedies - from the coronation ceremonies to the visits from nobilites and to the great fire that destroyed the castle. I will show you some of the more unknown details from the castle - and it's stunning surroundings. Before - or - after, we'll take a stroll through Hillerøds streets and hear a little about the towns story. I look forward to give you a unique experience in Northern Zealand!
We'll embark on a 35 minute train ride from Copenhagen, passing through both parts of Copenhagen, charming cities and pretty landscapes before arriving at Hillerøds 160 years old station. From here, it will be a 20 minute walk - partly along the hills at the castle lake with stunning views, before we reach the main goal of our adventure - the grandeur of Frederiksborg Castle. This stunning building was once home to kings, but today it is a museum celebrating Danish history - the stunning rooms can be enjoyed even if you're not interested in the finer details of the history of Denmark. On our walk to the castle we might also visit the baroque gardens and the park nearby, which houses a royal bath house. After the visit to the castle, we will take a stroll through Hillerød, a typical Danish midsize town with typical houses and a cobbled town square - if you want to, we could grab lunch at one of the towns restaurants. I look forward to showing you my old hometown and the castle, a true national treasure!

We'll go by train and walk. Public busses or a taxi is possible to get near the castle if you do not want to walk in Hillerød. If you want a car with driver, I will need to know this a week or more in advance - this will be at extra cost. However, train is usually the fastest way to reach Hillerød from Copenhagen.
