Zagorje is a rural, green, hilly, and wine region in the North, home of many beautiful castles and old traditional mud-wooden houses with thousands of wine cells under its ground. This is the green area of rolling hills, topped with numerous medieval castles and remote villages. Its highlight is Trakoscan castle with its lake. It is the most romantic and beautiful, most visited and best-preserved castle in Croatia. The ethnographic village of Kumrovec (birthplace of TITO), the lovely art village of Klanjec, Veliki Tabor castle, and a monument to Croatian Anthem located within the smallest natural park are just a few more remarkable spots on our journey. The area of Zagorje is my mother's homeland and I am a big fan/ discoverer about this region. On this day trip from Zagreb, you will not miss tasty local gastronomy delights, great photo opportunities, and lovely stories from the past towards modern time, as I grew up with them and I would love to share them with you. Do not miss it while staying in Zagreb.

Quick itinerary preview: - Hotel pick-up in Zagreb. - Morning drive towards the sleepy art village of Klanjec with a lovely square and valuable works of a famous stonemason. - Inside the smallest natural park in Croatia, there is a proudly standing Monument to the Croatian Anthem. - Visit Kumrovec, an ethnographic village, now an open museum. Kumrovec is the birthplace of former Yugoslavian president Josip Broz - TITO. - Lunch in a traditional restaurant. - Drive towards Trakoscan, passing by Veliki Tabor castle - visit from outside (great photo opportunity). - Visit Trakoscan castle and its lake. - Back to your hotel. To be efficient with your time and for your comfort and delight, we may switch the order of visiting these locations to avoid crowded areas.
