Guide #5494
WELCOME! Sharing the greatest city in the world with you must be the greatest job in the world. OK, I'm biased but dive into London with me, experience it like a local then you'll see why we love our London. I'm all about our wonderful city, so for Windsor or Stonehenge please do see the other excellent guides for these out-of-town day trips. I'm a little unusual in that I'm a walking artist and sometime performer. An Englishman, I've a touch of the Irish in me and you know how they can talk! I've 15 years experience on four continents and I have written about travel, contributed to London guide book listings, been on local radio to wax lyrical about London and even trained young people as Camden guides. I'm a personal trainer and 25 years a Londoner now. I'm not a Blue Badge guide and my knowledge is not as extensive as theirs; but I know enough history to entertain people and I like to keep it fun. If you come East, I do regular alternative history tours uncovering the lesser heard more modern histories too. I enjoy meeting new people and helping them discover and explore brilliant places. We bring London to you; you bring a little of your home to us, from New York to Vancouver to the Midwest to Cali'. I want you to feel at home in this welcoming cosmopolitan capital by making you feel like a Londoner too, if only for a day. There's a core of the best spots I like to show you that fit with the theme, but I can sometimes tailor routes if you have a special request. WANT A LONGER TOUR? A great combo is the 3. 5-hour general London tour and then - after this perfect intro to the city - zoom in to the street by level and add a 2. 5-hour market experience or a street art tour in hip East London? Alternatively, book the TWO DAY TOUR to go deeper. . . London has so many different sides to it - nothing beats exploring its stories with our visitors. I do a little performance/cabaret work occasionally and I enjoy bringing that to the tours if it's relevant. I'll even sing you a song if you like! If you want someone enthusiastic and passionate about showing you somewhere as rich and diverse as this; that's me, as you can see by the reviews/feedback section. Kids are very welcome too! USING EUROSTAR? I can show you London's newest hip location Kings Cross if you're going there anyway, or the Harry Potter tour can start/end there. Several of the other tours start just 15mins by subway from Kings Cross. My guiding background - which includes North American schools, international backpackers, British seniors and now British kids - means I know what sort of practical questions you want to ask; and how you can get the best out of your stay here. If you're travelling onwards I've seen much of it as a guide, especially Paris (French is my second language and I guide there too sometimes), Madrid, Barcelona, Berlin etc - so feel free to pick my brains. So come and let's spend a few hours exploring London and I'll tell you some tales that span the centuries and show you why this wanderer is proud to call it home. Welcome! PS **If you're not mobile, then all tours can be made into taxi-cab tours with a surcharge and arranged to end in a traditional British pub!** Great reviews with Tours By Locals since 2012. For 15 years on four continents I've tour guided people of all ages. I work with individuals, schools, universities and the local authority. I sometimes write educational travel content and have done some travel journalism. I trained youth tour guides for a social enterprise. I'm also a big Arts fan – bringing art, history, literature and the social sciences into my guiding. I explore social innovation, social enterprise and the circular economy etc for Masters students. From high school educational coach tours of the UK to backpackers in Europe, youth clubs here & long-haul seniors tours of China, I've loads of experience and a passion for discovery. My alternative Olympic tours started in 2012 & were quickly picked up by the media. Want to see the real story of London and the Games? Then I'm your man. I've been making and sharing artsy East London culture since 2009. I am not a driver; we have a wonderful - and comprehensive - public transport system to enjoy here. I am not a Blue Badge guide but have 12 years experience and four continents under my guiding belt.
