Welcome to Oaxaca visitors! I am Luis Mendoza native Zapotec rug weaver from Teotitlan del Valle a world known ancestral community, studied and partly raised in southern California, with a high sense of service to the local community and to all visitors in our State. As a kid, I loved to weave rugs but a lack of resources lead me to look for ways to guide visitors in my home town Teotitlan to our local markets, sites, events, and mountains, to well known master weavers and artist workshops, then migrated to US at the age of 14 where I learned the true value of being a Zapotec and being a customer service oriented person. Worked in San Miguel de Allende for the past 6 years as an agent and also answered questions from expats wanting to visit my home State Oaxaca. I love guiding in my State and its regions because of the diversity of ancestral indigenous knowledge, culture, and food and also because of the word Guelaguetza that unifies us all from different ethnolinguistic groups to the perspectives of sharing and celebrating through many years.
