I've been a professional tour guide since 2010. I work now almost full time as a licensed driving guide, taking groups of all sizes, from 1 or 2 people intimate tours up to full 50 person bus tours. I am born and raised in Iceland and love the outdoors and taking guests around Iceland, Greenland and Germany. My main base is Reykjavik, but I have a second base in Myvatn in the North of Iceland so I am happy to take tours out of Akureyri whenever possible. I am a true story teller and specially passionate about history, geology and the Iceland Sagas with a personal twist. Icelandic is my mother-tongue and I speak fluent English and German. I have three sons, two cats and one horse. I have a Master Degree in Communication in Culture from the University of Iceland and part of the study took place in the University of the Arts in Berlin, Germany. My background is in the theater and working in films, both as an actress, director and Casting director. I soon realized I was the happiest doing my side job; guiding. So, for the last years it has taken over my life, simply because I love it. I take pride in the fact that the travelers give me enthusiastic feedback and many are still in touch with me, even years after their initial trip to Iceland. They really like what I have to show them and my way of making sure that the experience is full of surprises and great enjoyment. I also love Greenland and guide tours there whenever I have a chance. My most recent review: "Everyone was THRILLED with the trip. They all said it was a fantastic vacation. They were so happy they got to see the Northern Lights for three nights but they also said all of the activities were great and the trip as a whole was wonderful. We all agreed that we wished you planned trips in every country in the world because your knowledge and your care and your price planning to meet everyone's needs are THE BEST. " All my tours can be customized upon request. 2022: Wilderness First Responser (Nols Wilderness Medicine) 2020: Licensed driving guide for big and small buses. Hiking up a volcano, riding in lava fields and soothing in a nature bath. A wonderful day for people who love hiking and being close to nature! We hike up to a volcano called Hverfjall and around the crater rim. Enjoy a splendid view over the Myvatn Nature Reserve, right on the rift zone between the North- American and Eurasian tectonic plates. Experience what it is to be with one foot on each continent! We extend the hike for those eager for more challenge to the Dimmuborgir Lava park, where there is a selection of hiking trails to choose from. Optional on this tour is to add in a horseback - riding tour by the lake. We finish the day with a relaxing soak in a thermal bath of your choice; either Jarðböðin; right there in Myvatn area with beautiful view over the lake, or Skogarböðin; overlooking Akureyri fjord - Eyjafjörður - - the longest fjord in Iceland. Skogarböðin. Both wonderful and relaxing thermal baths.
We drive from Akureyri town towards Myvatn lake Nature reserve. The drive is about 1 hour and on the way we enjoy the absolutely stunning scenery of post-glacial, U-shaped valleys and one of Iceland's most beautiful waterfall; Goðafoss. We drive straight to Hverfjall - volcanic crater. Hverfjall is one of Iceland's most beautiful and symmetrical explosion craters, besides being one of the largest of its kind in the world. It is estimated that the crater was created during a volcanic explosion likely around 2800 - 2900 years ago. The hike up the crater can take 1 - 1. 5 hours - depending on speed and conditions. We can extend the hike into the Lava park Dimmuborgir. It is optional on this tour to enjoy a soak in a Nature Bath and/or challenge yourself with more activity by going horseback-riding with local farmers on absolutely breathtaking beautiful trails around the pseudo-craters and in the lava fields around the lake. We head back to Akureyri in late afternoon - depending on your requested activity.
