Tickle your taste buds at 5 cool London market scenes
Want to catch the real buzz of global London? See its markets! From Shakespeare's stomping ground to the home of Punk to my East London (often compared to Brooklyn) there's something for everyone. Culture, history, art, food, drink, fashion. . .
Ideal for families or couples, choose:
ROCK N ROLL CAMDEN - the most famous, busiest and buzziest (7 days)!
BOROUGH MARKET - bustling contemporary food market in historic Shakespearean Southwark (Mon-Sat).
BRICK LANE - street art, galleries & hip boutiques, flea markets and street food.
COLUMBIA ROAD FLOWER MARKET - easily combined w/ Brick Lane, come for buzz, buskers and East London flavour (Sundays 10-2).
HACKNEY: 'LONDON'S BROOKLYN' - my home! Contrast an alternative farmers market with a traditional London market. Dalston's off the tourist track, but not for long. See art, secret gardens and hear how Jewish locals fought off fascists (Saturdays 10-2).
* I know some great pubs in all these locations where we could finish off with a drink
The tours are flexible but generally we'll wander through the market and its stalls taking in the sights, sounds and smells of London; we'll meet some locals; visit some historical spots to hear local history (from Shakespeare to WW2 to today); spot some street art; stop for a coffee; generally get under the skin of the area in a way only a tour with a local can.
Camden only: if you like a walk, we can take a 20 minute stroll through village-like Primrose Hill to finish on a nearby hill with a brilliant vista of London. Alternatively if you've factored in the Zoo I can walk you there along the canal and drop you off.

Simon is a passionate, knowledgeable and experienced guide. He tailored the tour to our interests. We explored Shoreditch, Dalston and Brick Lane over several hours and were thoroughly happy. We were entertained and educated. We saw secret gardens, pop up community spaces, theatres, art galleries, several markets, libraries, and a bakery staffed by kids kicked out of school. We met an artist, a gallery owner, traders, students and more. Simon knows local art and is a great teacher. Wonderful tour.
