WELCOME! Sharing my amazing city with you must be the greatest job in the world! Dive into London with me and experience it like a local. I'm all about our wonderful city, so for Windsor or Stonehenge please see the other excellent guides for out-of-town daytrips.
WHO? I'm an Englishman with a little chatty Irish in me; a tour guide with 12 years+ experience on four continents who has written about travel, contributed London guide book listings, been on local radio to wax lyrical about London and even trained young people as guides in Camden. I'm a performer, a personal trainer and 20 years a Londoner. Don't worry, I know my history - but I like to keep it fun too.
I enjoy meeting new people and helping them discover and explore brilliant places. We bring London to you; you bring a little of your home to us, from New York to Vancouver to the Midwest to Cali'.
I want you to feel at home in this welcoming cosmopolitan capital by making you feel like a Londoner too, if only for a day.
There's a core of the best spots I like to show you that fit with the theme, but I can sometimes tailor routes if you have a special request.
WANT A LONGER TOUR? A great combo is the 3. 5 hour general London tour and then - after this perfect intro to the city - zoom in to street by level and add a 2. 5 hour market experience, or a street art tour in hip East London? Alternatively, book the TWO DAY TOUR to do deeper. . .
London has so many different sides to it - nothing beats exploring its stories with our visitors. I do a little performance/cabaret work occasionally and I enjoy bringing that to the tours if it's relevant. I'll even sing you a song if you like!
You need someone enthusiastic and passionate about showing you somewhere as rich and diverse as this; that's me, as you can see by the reviews/feedback section. Kids are very welcome!
USING EUROSTAR? I can show you London's newest hip location Kings Cross if you're going there anyway, or the Harry Potter tour can start/end there. Several of the other tours start just 15mins by subway from Kings Cross.
My guiding background - which includes North American schools, international backpackers, British seniors and now British kids - means I know what sort of practical questions you want to ask; and how you can get the best out of your stay here.
If you're travelling onwards I've seen much of it as a guide, especially Paris (French is my second language and I guide there too sometimes), Madrid, Barcelona, Berlin etc - so feel free to pick my brains.
So come and let's spend a few hours exploring London and I'll tell you some tales that span the centuries and show you why this wanderer is proud to call it home.
PS **If you're not mobile, then all tours can be made into taxi-cab tours with a surcharge and arranged to end in a traditional British pub!**
A Recent Review of this guide
Great tour by Simon. The Sky Garden part of the tour is awesome. Simon is great at showing you so much of London from the top of a building. This casual tour is very fun and easy to enjoy. Highly recommended.
I've been getting great reviews with Tours By Locals since 2012.
For 12 years - and on four continents - I've tour guided people of all ages: individuals, schools, universities and now for the local authority. I sometimes write educational travel content and have done some travel journalism.
Recently I trained youth tour guides for a social enterprise. I'm also a big Arts fan - bringing art, history, literature and the social sciences into my guiding.
From high school educational coach tours of the UK to backpackers in Europe, youth clubs here & long-haul seniors tours of China, I've loads of experience and a passion for discovery.
My alternative Olympic tours started in 2012 & were quickly picked up by the media. Want to see the real story on London and the Games? I'm your man.
I am not a driver; we have a wonderful - and comprehensive - public transport system to enjoy here.
I am not a Blue Badge guide but have 12 years experience and four continents under my guiding belt.
