I love the island of Oahu for all the outdoor activities she offers: hiking, swimming, canoe paddling, etc. But there's more to like about the Hawaiian Islands than natural beauty. The history and mythology of the Hawaiian people captivate locals and visitors alike. I enjoy learning about them and sharing my knowledge. When family or friends visit, I take them around to the places I enjoy (sightseeing, restaurants, activities) or, if time does not permit, I draw up itineraries for them to explore on their own. From President Obama's favorite shave ice stand to hidden waterfalls and spectacular vistas, I will help you discover way more of the island than you could driving a rental car. Overview of your Honolulu tour

Leave the crowds behind as you escape from the city and venture into Oahu's untamed Leeward Coast, where white sand beaches meet rugged mountains. Experience the beauty of Keawaula (Yokohama) Bay at Kaena Point State Park and the thunder of Makaha surf. You may glimpse surfers and body-boarders, but only the best enter these rough waters come winter. Look for endangered green sea turtles in a sandy cove down a short lane. The Pokai Bay site of a 1, 000 year old Hawaiian temple for the protection of land and sea travelers also offers views of the magnificent Waianae coastline and mountains. We spend as little or as much time as you want at each location, with total drive time from Waikiki of about one hour each way. Optional visit to Waianae-area farm.

I cannot say enough good things about the tour. I contacted Don when my cousin and I suddenly needed to make arrangements for a private tour. She responded and weI booked for the following day. Donna is a delightful tour guide; knowledgeable and friendly and full of excellent suggestions. She is also flexible and willing to go with the flow. An excellent day, I accomplished what I needed to do, and we enjoyed and learned about the history of the beautiful Hawaiian countryside, mountains and beaches.

Donna did a fantastic job of showing us the not so touristic Leeward Side of Oahu. We travelled along the coast seeing the beaches and mountains, and stopping for some beautiful pictures. We enjoyed her company and it felt like we were friends from the beginning. We were able to decide what we wanted to see and do, and that is why we chose Tours by locals. The day ended with a wonderful hidden away local beach side restaurant. Thank you Donna!

- We head 'Ewa-bound' until the H-1 Freeway ends at Farrington Hwy. - The new Disney Resort, Aulani, wows visitors & locals alike. - We make an optional pit stop there or continue on toward several beaches. - If daylight permits, we drive all the way to road's end, Kaena State Beach Park, before turning around, stopping wherever you like for photos.
