Aloha! I am an avid kayaker, hiker, and snorkeler, as well as being one of the top rated guides on ToursByLocals. My family relocated to Hawai'i over 30 years ago and I am a student of Hawaiian history and culture. This tour brings up to 4 travelers to the USS Arizona Memorial at Pearl Harbor National Memorial and O'ahu's fabled North Shore with a local guide well versed in the history, architecture, and culture of Hawai'i. The National Park Service program for the USS Arizona Memorial begins at Pearl Harbor Memorial Theater. The tour includes a detailed orientation, a 23-minute documentary film, and a Navy-operated shuttle boat ride to the USS Arizona Memorial. In addition, travelers may visit the USS Bowfin Submarine & Museum. After Pearl Harbor and a lunch break, travelers will journey to the island's fabled North Shore, home to Historic Hale'iwa Town, Waimea Bay, the world famous Banzai Pipeline, Sunset Beach, and much more. Note: The tour's itinerary is flexible and can be tailored to suit the travelers' interests at any point and time.

We had a great day visiting Pearl Harbor and touring the island. Kirk is very knowledgeable and loves his island. Having a private guide allowed us to see so much more of the island and lots of secret areas we would never have found on our on.
Do not miss the opportunity to take this tour! We have travelled a lot of places all over the world with our best friends. All of us agreed Kirk is by far the best tour guide we have ever had anywhere. His intimate knowledge of O'ahu and Pearl Harbor was deep, but easily shared with us. After we did Pearl Harbor, we asked him to take us to lunch at a local favorite and he did not disappoint. From there we went to the North Shore making numerous historical and scenic stops, but also continued gaining a wealth of knowledge about Hawaiian history and the people of the Islands. Kirk had a great sense of humor and just made the tour so enjoyable we did not want it to stop. It never felt scripted like some tour feel. It was our favorite and one our most memorable days of our entire 13 day vacation. Kirk set a very high bar for all future tour guides - we wish them luck!

Note: The program at the Pearl Harbor National Memorial is run by the National Park Service and guides are not permitted to escort you to the USS Arizona Memorial. The national park is easy to navigate, and your guide will provide you a detailed orientation and tickets for the USS Arizona Memorial program outside the Pearl Harbor Visitor Center. LUNCH BREAK: The guide will suggest several options. NU'UANU PALI LOOKOUT: Scenic overlook and State Historic Site. NORTH SHORE: Turtle Bay, Sunset Beach, Ehukai Beach ("Banzai Pipeline"), Waimea Bay, Historic Hale'iwa Town, Dole Plantation (Optional), and Secret Spots.
