My wife and I moved to Charleston's old and historic district 22 years ago and immediately fell in love with it's beauty and charm. We wanted to know everything we could about this wonderful city and become involved. My wife became a licensed city guide early on and I served on a number of community boards including a 2 year term as the chairman of the BAR (board of architectural review) committee for the Charlestonwne neighborhood. I acquired my tour guide license more recently and get great pleasure telling travelers about the history and long standing customes of this beautiful historic city. All my tours can be customized upon request. Licensed city guide and a 22 year resident of the old and historic district None

The tour includes a 1 1/2 walking tour of Charleston's most prestigious neighborhood - the South of Broad or Charlestowne neighborhood, then a driving tour to see other important Charleston sites, and finally out to Middleton Place Plantation to see America's first designed garden and one of the last original plantation homes in the Charleston area. As a 22-year resident of the Charlestowne neighborhood and someone who has served on several community boards including 2 years as the chairman of the BAR (Board of Architectural Review) Committee for the Charlestowne neighborhood, I can share with you interesting and amusing stories that few others can. In addition to telling you about the history of this great city, we'll talk about what it's like living here today and about the 300-year-old customs and societies that exist today.
• The tour begins with a 1 1/2 tour of Charlestons most prestigious neighborhood, the Charlestowne neighborhood or South of Broad. There you will find 8 of the 10 largest historic homes in Charleston and many of Charlestons most important public buildings. You will see White Point Gardens, the high battery, Fort Sumter, Rainbow Row, South Carolina Society Hall, St. Michaels church, the 4 corners of the law, the Nathail Russell house (one of Charleston premier museum houses and the Williams mansion, at 24, 000 sq. ft. Charleston's largest single family home. • Then you will be driven to Middleton Place Plantation where you will see America's oldest formal gardens, the plantation house, build in 1755 and a very authentic working stable yard.
