I am a native of Charleston and a member of a well-known family whose local origins reach back through the ages. A professional and City of Charleston-licensed guide since 1983, I have provided guide services for individuals, families, and meeting and conference professionals on the national and international levels. I am highly respected and much sought-after as a speaker to the myriad of corporations and organizations that elect to convene in the Carolina Lowcountry. I will paint for you a colorful canvas of the area's foundation and expansion, utilizing not only architectural, cultural, and religious facts, but also that always-entertaining information available only to those who are from here. My media features include Good Morning America; WGBH {public television} in Boston; the London Times; British BBC; and Southern Living Magazine, amongst many others. Please come and join me in Charleston! Licensed as a tour guide by The City of Charleston.

Enjoy a 20-minute ride to the plantation and experience the Carolina Lowcountry as you travel outside the historic city to Boone Hall. This plantation reflects Southern heritage spanning 300 years on one magnificent "still working" plantation. In 1743 Thomas Boone planted his grand avenue of live oak trees which are almost one mile in length. This avenue was the inspiration for "Twelve Oaks" in Hollywood's l939 "Gone With the Wind. " The family and descendants of Major John Boone were influential in the history of South Carolina. John Rutledge, son of Sarah Boone Rutledge, grew up to be Gov. of South Carolina and a signer of the US Constitution. His brother, Edward, was a signer of the Declaration of Independence. The highly acclaimed Black History in America Exhibit is on display in nine of the original brick slave cabins which are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The plantation has been featured in John Jakes "North and South" along with "Queen" and "The Notebook. " Join me!
