Tour Charleston's oldest historic district and let architecture be your guide to the history of the city. The tour begins at Four Corners of Law where 18th- and 19th-century civic buildings formed the center of the old city. Then we will travel down Meeting Street where grand historic houses demonstrate historic architectural styles and tell the story of prominent historic Charleston residents. A walk up East Bay Street includes views of Fort Sumter and famed Rainbow Row. The tour concludes at the Charleston Exchange, Charleston's c. 1770 Exchange and Customs house that served the city's trans-Atlantic trade and was the site of a slave market. This tour offers insights into the civic, economic, and military history of Charleston, the tastes and lifestyles of 18th- and 19th residents, and the early days of the city's preservation and tourism movements.

This was a delightful walking tour of historic Charleston. Highly recommended.
Wonderful tour, very informative, Susan is the best. We learned so much about the architecture and history of Charleston, Just a great way to take in the heart of this city!!
If I could give Susan more than five stars I would. Four of us took her tour and we all agreed that it could not have been better. Her knowledge of architecture in general and Charleston in particular is exceptional. We learned about the history of the Charleston's historic district, the effect the civil war on it , why houses were designed in particular ways and the variety of architectural styles. None of us knew much about architecture and she was able to explain everything in a way that was interesting and educational. She was also full of really great anecdotes about multiple houses! Don't miss this one, it's worth every penny you will spend on it.
Susan is extremely knowledgeable on architecture and design and helped our group understand and appreciate what we were seeing as we walked through Charleston. She also had some choice anecdotes about some of the characters who built and occupied the homes that helped make things more personal. Excellent tour!
