Let me introduce myself. My name is Susana and I've been guiding in Madrid, Toledo, Segovia, and Avila for over twenty years now as a full-time activity, and. . . . here I am, still on stage. I am happy to say that I have done over 500 tours only with ToursByLocals during the last 9 years. This hasn't been my only job ever, I have been teaching languages since. . . always, as this is the family business, and I got to know the tourism industry since I was very young as it was my early passion. Hotels, airlines, tour director. . . All these experiences have made me a very versatile person, which helps a lot with my actual activity. For six years I have been the Chairman of the Madrid Tourist Guide Association, which shows my compromise with and faith in this profession which I find absolutely wonderful, as it is so to be able to share with my guests, my friends, all the magnificent heritage that surrounds me. I find so much satisfaction in seeing how you are delighted with your holiday choice that it encourages me, even more, to make more and more research to share it all with you. I have fun doing what I do as a living and that is the reason why you will have fun too. Who says that museums or history are boring? Our museums in Madrid hide so many treasures that you will long to come back as soon as possible to continue getting to know them. . . with me!? That would be fantastic. We will get to know together the labyrinth of streets of this wonderful and controversial city. We will discuss the evolution of its urban plan since its foundation, accompanied by a tapa or hot chocolate with churros (extra, depending on the time we start) in some of our fantastic markets or very old centennial cafeterias, or champagne and oysters—you are the boss! The city started to grow mainly after King Philip II settled in Madrid with his court in 1561. This is why most of the Old City is called the Habsburg district, or los Austrias, as we say here. I will be open to your wishes and needs. We can make it more or less historical or gastronomic, take a photo tour, or just spend a nice day together, getting to know how the heart of the city pulses through us. Large groups are also welcome!
Meeting point Café de Oriente. Plaza del Oriente Royal Palace of Madrid (outside) Old City Plaza de la Villa Plaza Mayor Plaza Santa Ana On our way, we will explore the labyrinth of amazing streets of Madrid's Old City and learn about the history of the city. Great photos! If you like photography, I'll give you some useful tips for taking the best photos. This is an example of an itinerary that can, of course, be customized according to the taste of the group.
