Degree in Art History and also in Tourism. Fully licensed guide for over 25 years, professor for Prado National Museum, I just love my job also teach art history in different institutions giving courses and lectures. Currently also working in television in the art section. I have done local guiding in many cities throughout Spain, Europe (Italy, France, England) Morocco and so on. I love tailoring my tours and contents based on your interest, ages and necessities without falling into erudition, but being pleasant at the same time as rigorous. I offer tours for individuals, groups, families, kids, VIPs, etc. I am lucky to be born in an environment were traveling, knowing and appreciating art was present every day. My father was a biochemist but walking with him was always awakening my curiosity, knowing the geological and historical origin of each stone and monument that we saw. My mother was a copyist of the Prado even pregnant with me - maybe my destiny was written! Sculptor and engraver with her culture and sensibility encourage mine. The combination of both next to my effort and study, have made me a true lover of my profession. To be honest, I never have the feeling to be working but just enjoying what I like the most: people and art. On the other hand, I am a professional musician (guitar, singer, and songwriter) write short tales too, so we can talk about flamingo music, jazz bars, nightlife in Madrid. As an event planner as I am too, I will recommend you the best places, restaurants, and shows in town. In my tours, I am committed to making you enjoy and learn just as I do. Do you like traveling out of the track? Having custom-made tours? Just ask me, please!! One of my specialities is touring families of different ages, so we can find a level not to be boring for kids neither for parents! We can always see all highlights, but also museums and places (there are many in town hardly known or visited by travelers); houses of artists, ancient mansions and palaces conserved or turn to great collections of arts, suggestive neighborhoods, local markets, antique stores… My specialty is doing what you like most!! - Madrid Official Guide Licence - National Heritage Monuments and UNESCO International City World Heritage sites (Toledo, El Escorial, Alcalá de Henares, Segovia, Avila, Salamanca, so on) - Professor at the Prado Museum - Collaborator Museum Thyssen Bornemistza - Researcher in National Library of Spain - Official Guide Licensed Las Ventas Bull Ring Madrid - Guide specialized in religious tours and pilgrimages (in Spain, France, England and Italy). Some courses and lectures given: *Professor and lecturer at CAIXAFORUM MUSEUM MADRID "Universal History of Art" *Professor and lecturer for National Association of Industrial Engineers of the ICAI in "Religious iconography". *Lecturer course "Discovering Zurbarán" Fundación Repsol. * Lecturer at the National Parador of Sigüenza " Castles and medieval architecture in Spain". *Advisor as an iconographic expert for Edelvives editorial for book publications "Book of love" and "Book of magic and witches". *Jury member as Art Critic prize painting. The tour we took was El Escorial . Antonio is very knowledgeable in many fields but in particular in the art and history of this magnificent Renaissance building. Three hours is barely enough time to explore the building but Antonio managed to steer us around other tour groups and show us a themed highlight of the building. We highly recommend you book Antonio for this tour.
Antonio is priceless!! The amount of time he took in planning our group tour was evident in the places he showed us around Madrid. We ended in Madrid from a pilgrimage, but wanted a local point of view on the culture and religious. He chose some beautiful churches/monastery/cathedral, and spoke of the local history as well. He is kind, informative, knowledgeable, and has a good sense of humor. He was such a pleasure to have as our tour guide, and we would definitely use him again. God Bless you, Antonio!
What a treat! The palace was worth the trip- I think it is one of the most elegant palaces we have ever toured. We were taught about the exquisite decorative details as well as royal family history. Antonio took us along the streets of Old Town, weaving in the most colorful historical stories! We bought delicious cookies from some retired nuns, were able to see the most beautiful Easter processional practice and were dropped off for an amazing evening of Tapas & Flamenco- arranged by Antonio.
Antonio is a wonderful guide and an excellent person. He is one of Madrid's most elite guides, and deservedly so. He knows every artwork and artifact in every museum and every nook and corner of every barrio of the city. As he got to know us, he adapted his itinerary on-the-fly to mix in some sites and experiences he knew we'd love.
- Puerta del Sol - Main Square through the old town - Most beautiful corners till Royal Palace. The itinerary is flexible and may change in case of works or cut streets. If you wish I can arrange for you a great typical and historical restaurant for lunch.
