Welcome to all, I am native from Madrid, born in Manresa, family from Asturias, northern Spain and raised in Madrid, since early age I was interested in the arts and history of my city and my country. As time went by I started specializing in the culture of my beloved Madrid where I have been guiding for almost 10 years now! I have special interest in nineteenth century history and Spanish art and I am a great fan of Francisco de Goya, one of the masters one can find in Madrid. This is a walking tour through the treasures of the beautiful city of Madrid its origins, legends and history. A peaceful walk in a really welcoming city you'll never forget! As a kid I used to come on my own to the very heart of Madrid from the outskirts where I lived, I remember none of my friends were willing to come and explore it, but I had a special attraction to this city and the more I visited it and learned about it, the more I loved it: always drove by an authentic special passion for it! Together we'll stroll around trough the historical center of the city and we'll be reviewing what Madrid means and is: the capital of Spain but sometimes one of the forgotten cities that actually has many things to offer for travellers willing to discover it with a curious eye look. We'll have the chance to eat some "barquillo", try local liquor of Madroño, and why not, taste some "callos a la Madrileña" . All this, mixed with the atmosphere of the city that has been the hometown for different cultures!
As always, Enrique was a joy to spend the day with. We have toured many times with him in the past 10 years or so and always loved it. If you are interested in specific artists, definitely pick Enrique - he’s a great teacher. And he knows Madrid like the back of his hand from its history to current events. He is the ultimate Madrid guide whatever your interests.
What a fabulous tour. Enrique was a wealth of information about Madrid. He had such great historical knowledge about the city but also about Spain and how Madrid grew. He showed us maps of the city and how it had expanded over the centuries. This is the tour everyone needs to take if you have a short period of time in the city...just amazing

My parents and I had a wonderful day with Enrique learning about the history of Madrid. I highly recommend Enrique as a guide for those who are interested in learning from someone who lives there. You can feel Enrique's enthusiasm and passion for his work as a guide and teaching others about history. We wanted to use him for more days during our visit, but sadly, he was already booked. I recommend you book with him early. You will not be disappointed!
The route we will be following is going to take us trough the old city of Madrid, from the Madrid of the Austrias, to the first Muslim areas which were the origin of this beautiful city. This tour includes an overview of the most important sights of the city. We will be talking about its history and legends around it, we will pop-in to small traditional taverns where we can try delicious and very typical vermouth. The walk will be going to: -Plaza de Oriente -Jardines del Moro -Parque de las Vistillas -San Francisco el Grande -Puerta de Toledo -San Isidro -Plaza Mayor -Plaza de la Villa -Puerta del Sol -Cibeles -Gran Via -Callao -San Bernardo -Conde Duque -Plaza de España -Templo de Debod This is a full day tour but we will be doing plenty of stops to not get tired and be always full of energy to enjoy the city! We will have a 1. 5 - 2 hours for lunch and 15-20 minutes for another refreshment stop. The itinerary can be adapted to traveller's interests: do no hesitate to contact me for a customized tour!
