When my family from Germany came for a visit, I loved showing them the ever-changing scenery from East to West and the idea of becoming a tour guide was born. The Pacific East Coast boasts some of the Auckland region's most pristine white sand beaches, rolling pastures, spectacular bays, native coastal forest, and regenerating wetlands. The gently rolling hills make for easy walking, and the open terrain affords constant gulf views from almost every point. Enjoy fantastic vistas of the Hauraki Gulf, and sheltered beaches, and observe rare native birds in their natural habitats. The serenity of Auckland's eastern coast will then be contrasted with the raw and windswept western coast. Highlights of this tour include Muriwai's spectacular black sand surf beaches on the western coast and Gannet colony. The tour includes a stroll through native New Zealand bush and groves of Nikau Palms, the perfect opportunity to get a feel for NZ's wonderfully diverse landscapes
Gesa is a wonderful guide. She delivered the tour completely, putting in extra time to ensure we got the full program. She is passionate about the beautiful areas that NZ has to offer and very engaging as she explains it all. She literally got us to the far corners of the reserves/parks. Thank you Gesa!
Gesa and the trip were great. We picked her because we wanted to the natural beauty of the North Island. We headed straight to the National Park on the East Coast and went o. A long Hume (our choice). The sights were great and the scenery was fantastic. After walking for several hours, including watching a playful calf, we had an outstanding lunch at a winery. And then off to the the west coast to see the black sand beaches. Our group of 4 loved our active day with Gesa - we are in our 60s and felt great.
Gesa is an outstanding tour guide. She is very knowledgeable as well as thoughtful and friendly. She took us to places that she visits with her family: fabulous beaches, a perfect lunch spot, and a delicious ice cream shop. We had a most memorable day with Gesa.
My wife and I had a wonderful experience on our tour. We could customize our day based on our preferences for city and scenic highlights. We were most interested in the natural scenery and so we visited numerous scenic areas and walked along nature paths and trails. Gesa provided significant details as to the varied terrain, greenery and wildlife we encountered in the north and western regions and their contrasts. I recall stopping on one trail as we watched for some time, an industrious parrot removing tree bark to uncover insects. Also, enjoyed walking barefoot on a dark sand beach (formed eons ago from volcanic activity). It was interesting as the sand was as fine as a white sand beach. We also stopped in one or two local town areas. We thoroughly enjoyed our long day together and Gesa had us back with plenty of time before cruise ship was ready to depart.
Gesa made our trip to New Zealand the best stop of the cruise. We had a great time in her very confortable car, the conversations were fantastci; she really knew the country. If we asked to see anything she took us. We absolutley loveds her and would verey strongly reccomend her to anyone that wants to see Brisbane area, she really knows her country, the ins and outs, restaurants and wineries!!!
Our tour time and meeting location was changed by the cruise line. Gesa was very accommodating, understanding and flexible with this change. We wanted to see the beauty in and around Auckland and Gesa delivered. She was so passionate and proud of her home that her enthusiasm was contagious! She structured the day around our interests but still incorporated her favorite spots and places of interest .By the end of the tour we felt like new friends with a shared love of this beautiful area of New Zealand
*Starting time is flexible 8:00 am pick up from CBD Hotel/Port or as agreed On our way we stop at the Honey Centre (world famous New Zealand Manuka Honey) Fantastic walk along the Pacific Ocean's stunning coastline (about 2 hours). From here we make our way across to the rugged coast of the Tasman Sea and take a rejuvenating stroll through rain forest to the Gannet Colony Please note: the walking component can be adjusted to your fitness level Arrival back into Auckland at approximately 4:00pm.
