Leaving the crowds behind us we will travel through the Kumeu wine region to the wild West Coast. Enjoy the wonderful nature on a walk through mystic rainforest before reaching the 60 km long black sand beach. Stop for a picnic with an amazing view over the Tasman Sea and if you are lucky you will see playful Maui Dolphins, sunbathing seals and about 3000 Gannets looking after their chicks (August-April). From here we make our way to Piha, a little seaside community. The dramatic beach is marked at each end by rugged cliffs. Lion Rock is a volcanic monolith with war memorials and Maori carvings. Nearby, Waitakere Ranges Regional Park has subtropical native rainforest and we will walk on a trail to waterfalls. Spend the day like the locals do! Our children absolutely enjoy this walk and a "shower" under the waterfall. I still think of the guest who just took of his clothes and enjoyed the experience.
Gesa was great. Extremely knowledgeable, very friendly and accommodating. Given the weather, she was flexible with what we did and in what order. She took us to amazing off the beaten path places and really made us feel comfortable in NZ. We got a firsthand view of life in Auckland. I highly recommend booking with Gesa.
Gesa is a fabulous guide, energetic, friendly and knowledgeable. Throughout our day of intermittent rain and wind, with her guidance we still had a wonderful day. Gesa took us to amazing sites & we saw so much, rain forest, waterfalls that were much bigger because of all the rain, black sand beach & gannet nesting colony. Her driving was always careful & she watched out for us when conditions were slippery. We highly recommend Gesa to lead any tour she planned.
We had a wonderful tour with Gesa even though the recent cyclone damage prevented us from having the original your we booked. She offered several new options and used our input to create an amazing tour. The beauty of the beaches and rain forest was breathtaking. Gesa shared so much about the locations and culture of the areas. She even gave us several recommendations of things we could do on our own in the next few days enabling us to further enjoy our time in the Auckland area.
Gesa made a quick visit to North Island interesting and meaningful. After we discussed some options for the day based on weather and activity level, Gesa provided a full day tour including beach and rainforest walks while helping me understand some of the historical and current events on the island. She is kind and engaging and a generous host! Highly recommend ��
Gesa was very knowledgeable and friendly. She had a great itinerary set up, but was also willing to accommodate any special requests that we had. We absolutely enjoyed the entire day exploring the beautiful scenery outside of the city.
