Mezhotne Bauska Rundale: a decorative garden & cottage cheese
Overview of your Riga tour
After meeting in the port or your hotel we drive to Mezhotne - a palace of Sh. Fon Liven and enjoy pastoral sceneries and amazing interiors of the palace; then our way lies through Bauska (the place of the last castle built in Livonia)to Rundale Palace - a great masterpiece of Baroque and Rococo style, built for E. I. Biron - the favorite of Anna Ioanovna, Russian Empress in the 18th century. Rundale is located in a peaceful countryside surrounded by a magnificent garden of roses, a marvelous French-style regular park and orchards. The wonderful views will be accompanied by my stories of glamorous court life in the 18th "Century of Charm". You'll be also able to enjoy a nice cup of coffee in the palace or park cafe. After a short rest we'll drive to one of the private decorative gardens and meet locals keen on gardening and enjoy their stories seeing wonderful sceneries of their garden. On the way to Riga we can visit (if possible) a farm house to taste delicious local cottage cheese and talk to its owner.
