Hello from Riga, Latvia, Baltic states! Since early 2000 as a licensed guide, I am specializing in customized private tours as a guide and driver in my beloved Riga, Latvia, Baltic States, and Eastern Europe. It could be your first look at my city or a specialized tour like Jewish heritage, military history, food and beverages or architecture, and culture. As so many people have migrated away in course of our history, many are looking back for their Baltic ancestors. Here I can help as a historian to search in archives their family trees. About myself - I was born in a loving family in Riga, Latvia. Some moment I fell in love with gardening and graduated as a landscape designer, later teacher of history, psychology and handicrafts, later conference interpreter and translator. Well, probably a student's life attracted me. But all the time, traveling remained my passion. After crossing the World with groups of travelers I suddenly realized how great is my own country and region and that I have a lot to do to present and share. Now besides guiding I am a happy owner of a small berry farm and a former train station in Latvian countryside that is now partly renovated and turned into a little museum and recreation place. This is a tour to combine exploring of different parts of Riga and to see more by drive plus Old town. We can also visit the Ghetto Museum, Jewish sites of Riga and Rumbula Memorial upon request.
Peteris knows all. The more you inquire, the more he will offer. He knows many people all over town, even the organist at the noon concert at Riga Cathedral- which you should do. I requested a custom tour of architecture history and between walks and his car, it was a comprehensive day. Reserve early- he is in demand.
Peteris was an amazing guide! Our group of 10 has been talking about this tour ever since we experienced it. Peteris had excellent knowledge and information about the sites that we were able to see, but not only that, it was very interesting to hear about his own experiences, living in Latvia during the Cold War and how it impacted his own life. We brought my father on this tour who is 84 years old and is a little bit slower as he walks with a cane and Peteris was incredibly patient and kind, commenting on how important it is to let everyone know that they are valued and worthwhile. Our family asked a lot of questions and he was so very patient and gracious with all of it. We all commented and stated that we feel as if he was every bit a part of the experience, and it wouldn’t have been the same without him. This was a 2.5 hour walking tour and 2.5 hour drive to Jewish Sites
You could tell Peteris was a teacher as he was very clear with his tour. He was a very knowledgeable guide who I would use again.
