Old Riga Sightseeing Tour and Traditional Food Tasting

Let me introduce you with traditional tastes of Latvian cuisine. Unusual combination of ingredients (like herring and cottage cheese) or products you have never tried before (like smoked lampreys or bread with hemp seeds) might surprise you. The best place to cover all food options is Grand Central Market, opened in 1930 as the most modern market of that time and still the major place for buying food. After that we visit Medieval part of Riga passing by the most picturesque spots and places. Being significantly larger than other cities of Latvia, Riga is the country's primate city. It is also the largest city in the three Baltic states and is home to one tenth of the three Baltic states' combined population. The city lies on the Gulf of Riga at the mouth of the Daugava river where it meets the Baltic Sea.

We start the tour at Akademijas square 1 - here from the 17th floor viewing platform of landmark building built during the soviet time ruled by Stalin and therefore often referred to as Stalin's Cake, you will have the best view over the whole Riga and Grand Central Market in particular - I will introduce you to the history of Grand Central Market and it's unique architecture. After that we walk to the Grand Central Market to visit it's different food sections and taste traditional Latvian food and non alchoholic beverages.
